Stacking the Shelves & Sunday Post (64)

This week was really difficult for me.  It started out where I was exhausted, sleeping a lot, and had a light cough.  Next thing I knew, I had a low grade fever, bad headache, was vomiting, extremely short of breath, and my chest was hurting each time I would inhale.  Needless to say, I was really scared, because I have restrictive lung disease, asthma, and my lungs are only operating at 50%. It got so bad that even though I was scared of going to the ER, I thought I might not have a choice if I couldn't breathe.  I was using my inhaler a lot---which got me through the weekend.

On Monday, I had a video conference doctor appointment, and was so relieved when the doctor diagnosed me with severe bronchitis, possible pneumonia.  I was worried I could have Coronavirus, but he said my symptoms were different since I had a wet cough, and my fever wasn't high.  He gave me steroids to help my lungs, and really strong antibiotics.  He told me not to leave my house, because I'm really sick right now, and it was good I didn't go to the E.R. or urgent care.  The medicine is working, and I'm feeling much better.

Then my daughter was wheezing, crying, and coughing.  I got scared again.  I had my husband take her in to her doctor, and he said she has a really bad sinus infection, and asthma, and gave her an inhaler and flonase.

Now, every time one of us get's sick I'm filled with fear.  Each time my husband or daughter coughs, I freak out.  I had to stop watching the news and reading about Coronavirus, because it was causing me to have panic attacks.  Ever since I literally died (several times, and the doctors brought me back,) I have PTSD and a fear of not being able to breathe again. I was on a ventilator for a while, and the fear of this virus causing a lack of breath has me panicking.  I just hope we can all get through this, and the doctors find a way to stop it.

  4. Well, both those events were terrifying. Every time my throat feels scratchy, I get paranoid. So glad it was not corona. Hope you both are back to full health quickly

  5. Oh my goodness, Lindy, I'm so glad you got positive news from the doctor. And I hope your daughter is on her way to recovering too. I hear you about being paranoid about every cough or sneeze -- I'm TOTALLY the same.

  6. Yeah, having gone through it before, you know too much and that is scary. What a 'Jonah' week as Anne of Green Gables would put it with you and your daughter catching something. My husband got sick and I was worried about the infection b/c he's had double pneumonia more than once and struggled to breath from it. Scary times, but I'm trying to stay upbeat. Wishing you guys well, Lindy! :)

  7. I've been completely paranoid and I'm not even high risk or having the types of symptoms you are, so I can only begin to imagine how you feel! I'm glad you didn't have to go to the ER, but definitely keep yourself safe and if the medicines don't continue to take care of your symptoms, you might want to insist on getting tested, just in case---check out if there's drive-thru testing in your state, so you can get tested without having to go into an ER. You'd still need a doctor to refer you, but it's safer!!

Hope you're feeling healthy by now!

  8. I'm really sorry you've been going through all that. I can't even imagine the type of trauma you've been through. This Coronavirus is very scary and I definitely had to stop watching the news as well. My husband has a lot of health issues that would honestly leave us having to take him to the hospital if he got sick so we haven't left the house in nearly a month. It's crazy.

On a lighter note, I'm glad both you and your daughter were able to get some care and weren't diagnosed with Corona. I hope you stay safe.

Congrats on getting that beautiful copy of JLA's new book. Very jealous!
