Book Synopsis:

There’s a fine line between I hate you and I want you.
Once you cross it, there’s no going back.

Blaze Townsend: I hate you.

Charisma Rossi:
I hate you more.

She’s been expecting this ever since their latest showdown. She had good reason.

Hottest guy she’s ever seen.
Former fling.
Dumped her in front of all her friends.
At her own party.

So no, she’s not about to forgive and forget just because he sits next to her in class. He thinks all he has to do is turn on those baby blues, and she’ll melt right back into his arms. Please.She’d be crazy to let this cocky player affect her again. (Tell that to her body.)

Charisma Rossi.
Nerd girl with a dash of bad.
The one who got under his skin.
The one he cut loose.

Blaze knows she’s the riskiest prospect at Waylon University, but none of the interchangeable girls he hooks up with have ever made him feel the way she did. There’s absolutely no way he can have the girl and the game.

So why can’t he stop trying to win her back?

Can this wide receiver score the girl or will he make the biggest fumble of his life?

My Thoughts:

I Hate You was a story that took me by surprise!  It was emotional, had depth to it, and gave me so many feels.  Charisma "Charm" Rossi had a steamy no-strings attached sexual fling with football star Blaze Townsend.  While the fling was mostly superficial, the two had a lot of passion, laughs, fun together, and just got each other in a way that no one else ever had.

Charm had very strict rules during their fling, such as no kissing, and leaving right after sex.  She was trying to protect her heart, because it had been broken before, and she didn't trust men after she witnessed her father cheating on her mother.  However, along the was she fell in love with him, and then out of no where, he dumped her in front of everyone at her sorority's party, and told her that she wasn't his type.

Heartbroken, Charm was determined to get over Blaze.  However, fate had other plans, and pretty soon, no matter where she went, she couldn't escape her ex...

At the beginning of the story, I was prepared to hate Blaze Townsend, but as I learned more about him, I saw that he was a good guy and my heart broke for him, and all that he had endured in his life.  Football was his passion, and he was determined to make it to the NFL.  Both Charm and Blaze were characters that had their walls up, and I was rooting for them to take a chance on love.

When they started opening up to one another and sharing their broken pieces, as well as being vulnerable, and being themselves, I was all in.  No one could have torn me away from my kindle.  The depth and substance of these two characters was revealed layer by layer, and had me riveted for the entirety of the story.  Charm and Blaze both had so much insecurity and saw the best in one another.  I was cheering them on, and hoping that they would stop letting fear and insecurity block them from their chance at love and happiness.

I loved that Charm and Blaze developed a solid friendship, and I swooned over the way that Blaze treated Charm, and the way that she supported his dreams, and showed him what it felt like to be loved.  I Hate You was so much more than the fun and light-hearted romance that I was expecting!  It was a beautiful love story about confronting our inner demons, insecurities, and fears.  It was about taking chances, and taking charge of your own happiness!

  5. I love confronting inner demons. I admit that its a romance trope I never think of but that I adore. And I just melt reading about a woman who shows a man what it means to follow their dreams and be loved too. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

    1. Yes, it's not a trope that's done a whole lot in romance, but I really enjoyed it :)
