Synopsis:

Head of the class...

Garrett Daniels has this whole life thing figured out. The cocky, charismatic former high school star quarterback is an idolized football coach and "cool" teacher in the hometown where he's not just a golden boy — he's platinum. He has good friends, a great house on the lake, and the best damn sidekick a man could ask for: Snoopy, the albino beagle. Then...Callie Carpenter comes home. And knocks him right on his tight end zone.

Back to school...

Callie has a pretty sweet life herself...on the other side of the country. But circumstances — that she'd prefer to never speak of again — have brought her back home, helping out her parents and substitute teaching at her old high school. Now she's facing bickering, raging hormones, constant gossip, awkward weirdness, and drama galore...and that's just the teachers.

Just like old times...

When Garrett offers to show his former high school sweetheart the secrets of his winning teacher ways, Callie jumps at the chance - and then has to stop herself from jumping him. Good friends are all they can ever be. Or...these teachers just might end up getting schooled — hard — by love.

Synopsis:

If anyone asks, I knew better than to flash my boobs for Mardi Gras beads.

I still don’t know why I did it.

Maybe it was the dare from my two best friends.

Maybe it was the guys on the balcony saying they’d throw Fireball shots with the beads.

Or maybe it was the quiet guy in the corner of that same balcony with piercing gray eyes, wavy dark hair, and a smile so tempting I wanted to climb up there and lick it off his face.
Maybe it was because I never thought I’d see them again.

Not that it matters. Not today.

Because the hotel I manage was finally bought—and the guy who walks in and introduces himself as my new boss is Mr. Tall, Dark, and Silent.

There are many upsides to being single.

Your new boss knowing what your boobs look like?

Not one of them.

Chloe grimaced, turning around to face me. “Does he show up randomly at your house?”
I jumped out of my chair. “Shut up! No!”

She pointed at the door. “There’s a hot guy who just pulled up in an Audi unexpectedly with dark hair, who wears a white shirt the way hookers wear thongs, and has an ass like a giant, ripe peach.”

Three loud knocks sounded at my door.

“Oh God!” I moaned, clutching at my stomach. “I have to hide. Can you stall him?”
Peyton grinned. A shit-eating warning grin.

“Actually, no, never mind,” I whispered harshly. “Peyton, you go out the back, I’ll hide, and Chloe can get rid of him!”

Peyt shook her head. “Not a chance. Who is it?” she added, shouting the last three words.

I clapped my hands over my mouth. Not only was this not a good time because I was still freaking out over the kissing, but we’d not long finished a yoga DVD and I was still sweaty and gross. Not to mention I was pretty sure I’d pulled a muscle.
And the powder. I was covered in donut sugar, okay?

“Uh… It’s Jake,” came the reply through the door.

Peyt waggled her eyebrows. “Jake, eh?”

I glared at her then stuck my middle finger up in her direction. “I hate you.”
The door hinges creaked, and the next thing I knew, Chloe was standing in the door frame. “Hi!” she said in an upbeat tone. “I’m Chloe.” She shoved her hand at him.
“Jake,” he replied slowly, taking her hand. “Is Mellie here?”

“She’s here, but she might be hiding.”

Peyton burst out laughing. My cheeks flamed red, and I stormed across the room and tugged her away from the door.

“Hi. Excuse her. She didn’t take her meds this morning,” I said.

Chloe poked my cheek. “Hello, Mommy. Did you bring me my cookies?”

Peyton, still laughing, stood up. “Okay, Chlo, drop it. Let’s go. We have work to do.”
I spun around as she slipped her laptop into her purse. “And you need to leave to do that? You literally just showed us a penis photo.”

“Your house doesn’t have the right Feng Shui.”

“You’ve never looked up Feng Shui!”
She pointed a finger in my direction. “You don’t know my life!”

Jake blinked between the three of us.

Chloe grabbed hold of her purse and then Peyton’s arm. “We’re going. Call us later, okay?”

Jake moved out of the way while Chloe dragged Peyton out of my house.

“And don’t forget to put your foot down on the kissing thing!” Peyton shouted, eyes sparkling. The last I saw of her was a large, mischievous grin right before Jake shoved the door shut on her.

Review:

The Upside to Being Single was such a fun and sexy romance! Emma Hart always delivers the feels, the heat and an unforgettable reading journey! If you are looking for a hilarious read that will leave a smile on your face, look no further!

Flashing your boobs to your new boss is not the best way to make a first impression ... lol!! Mellie comes face-to-face with the gorgeous stranger that got an eye-full on a crazy night she blames her besties for. Jake is her new boss and working with him will drive her nuts. The awkward moments keep on coming, but the attraction that grows between Mellie and Jake is undeniable. Sparks are about to fly.

Mellie and Jake were such a fun couple to follow. I loved their banter and the sweet and sexy moments that they shared. I love romantic comedies that leaves you wanting more! Emma Hart did a fantastic job with TUtBS and I can't wait to read about the other characters in this story. Millie's best friends are hilarious and I will without a doubt be cheering for them when they each get their turn for a HEA.

Rating:

I give, The Upside to Being Single, by Emma Hart, 4 flirty, hilarious, swoony stars!

Excerpt:

I buried my body beneath the covers and curled around his warmth. With my head rested just where he’d wanted it, I closed my eyes tight and willed the tears away. Doing my best to hide the emptiness consuming me, I concentrated on breathing evenly.

“Always loved you right like this,” he confessed. “Your body so close to mine it feels like we’re the same person.” I took deep breaths as I thought of all the reasons life was so damn unfair.

“Loved burying my face in your hair, just breathing you in.”

Those were the words most girls dreamed of hearing, and they made our love feel more solid and concrete. But hearing them now was like a slow form of torture, because they were tearing the small amount of control I had left in me to pieces.

“You were made just for me, Sawyer Cooper,” he whispered sleepily. “I truly believe that.”

I squeeze my eyes shut tighter as I curled into him closer.

“Forever my girl.”

Tears rolled along my cheeks as I did all I could to wipe them away before he noticed. I was thankful sleep had taken him over and he was oblivious to the shattering of my soul.

Review:

Don't Be Afraid by C.A. Harms is the first book I read by this author. I have to admit that the cover totally stole my breath away from the moment I saw it. I don't want to go into details about what happens in this book. Every reader needs to experience this phenomenal story. The characters will captivate you from the very beginning and they will not let you go! Trust your bookworm radar and give this book a chance if you want to read an unforgettable second chance at love story.

C.A. Harms writing style is exquisite and her characters felt so real. Not only did I read the story, I felt every single word of it! Tissues and a good quantity of chocolate was very much needed during this journey. This story broke my heart into a million pieces. The author did a phenomenal job with it. She took every piece of my broken heart and made it smile again by writing precious moments that were like a soothing balm to my heart.

This book will deliver all the feels. It will make you smile when happy moments happen and then you will have a river of tears rolling on your cheeks because of what each of these characters are going through. Each moment of this story will own you heart and soul. Don't Be Afraid was an amazing reading journey that will linger with me for a long time. I highly recommend it if you're looking for your next unputdownable reading escape.

“I just—I don’t get it.” I threw myself onto the sofa and almost sent the box of donuts flying onto the floor.

Thankfully, Peyton was quicker than the box. She grabbed it and sat back, hugging it to herself. “First, watch the donuts. I got the last two pink sprinkles, and I’m partial to them.” She stroked the top of the box. “Second, what don’t you get? How he doesn’t care about your boobs? I don’t care about them either.”

“You’re not supposed to care about my boobs. You’re a woman, for a start.”
“I care about your boobs,” Chloe interrupted, tucking her blond hair behind her ear. “I think you have great boobs. Bra or no bra.”

“Usually no bra,” Peyton added.

“I’m not afraid to throw something at you,” I warned her. “This is awkward.”

“Ugh! Get over yourself, Melanie!” Peyton snapped her fingers. “You are a grown woman. He is a grown man. He saw your tits. So what? Steven Lawrence saw your tits five times in junior year.”

I snatched a donut from the box. Don’t tell my hips. “We were dating! It’s entirely different!”

Chloe delicately picked up a white-iced donut before saying, “She’s right. It is different, Peyt. They were dating, and Jacob is her boss. You can’t expect her to just get over that. It is partly your fault.”

“It’s just as much your fault,” Peyton reminded her, then looked at me and nodded toward Chloe. “Drunky smurf over here shook her Tic-Tacs like she was in front of a bachelor party leaving a curry house.”

I choked on my laughter. “That’s not the point. You got us drunk. It’s almost entirely your fault.”

“Look, sunshine,” she said, tearing a bite of donut off the ring so her words were muffled. “I didn’t grab your shirt and whip it up like a two-dollar hooker on overtime. You did that, so grow a pair and take responsibility for your actions.”

“You sound like you don’t want to take responsibility for yours.”

“Hey. You’re big girls. You can refuse cocktails.”

Chloe and I shared a glance. “Refuse cocktails?” she said. “I don’t understand.”

“You have us mixed up with your other friends,” I continued. “But, wait. You don’t have other friends.”

“I have plenty of friends,” Peyt said.

“Friends without penises. Or benefits.”

She paused. “We’re not talking about me. We’re talking about your hot boss who knows what your tits look like.”

“You’re not helping.”

“I’m not trying to help. I’m trying to slap your size-eight ass into reality, you idiot.”

“Slap mine into reality and I’m putting yours on a catapult. Right into the middle of the gulf.” I tore my donut in two and gave her boobs a pointed look. “I always wondered if silicone would float.”

Synopsis:

The mystery of love is greater than the mystery of death.
~Oscar Wilde~

Adoration is not profound enough a word to express the depth of my love for her. From the moment she walked into my life and set my heart and soul on fire, not a day's gone by that she hasn't plagued my every thought.

We were each other's completion. She was everything I wasn't--the sigh to my roar, the virtue to my sin, the cure to my wounds.

We Were One.

Until the unthinkable happened.

That I've survived such a tragedy without having completely lost it, is a mystery in itself. But as my mind starts to blur the lines between reality and my delusional heart, I begin to question everything, including my sanity.

And then the real mystery begins . . .

Review of Girl In The Mirror HERE

Excerpt:

As I usually did when I first arrived at the lake, I parked and lit up a smoke so I could stake the place out by myself for a little while first. I’d heard about and seen enough of the twins now to know they were getting popular with the boys. Not in a bad way, but from what Nolan told me, even the quieter seemingly shyer one of the two had just as many admirers as the more outgoing one. But I’d yet to, nor did I plan to, socialize with either—ever.

“Did it hurt?”

I should’ve known right then those deep blue eyes that close, coupled with that sweet voice, would be the end of me. It was one of the twins—but unlike most of the folk in town, I knew exactly which one—stood before me, staring at my arm curiously.

Trying not to get too sucked into her intoxicatingly playful eyes, I looked away from them as our eyes met and I glanced down at what she was staring at instead. I couldn’t help smirking. She was asking about my latest tattoo.

“A little,” I said, not making too much of it, then glanced back at her. Smiling at those curious eyes just couldn’t be helped, so I did as I continued to indulge. “But it’s the best kind of pain there is. The kind that hurts so good.”

I knew flirting with her was a risk, but I could see the way she was looking at me—the way most girls did when I took them in so unabashedly, making no secret of my dirty thoughts.

She was younger than most girls I normally hung out with. I figured a few more risqué comments from me might have her red as a beet and walking away as she should.

“That thing between your legs,” she said, making me stop mid-drag of my cigarette, and my brows jumped at attention. “It just keeps getting bigger.”

Coughing what little smoke I’d inhaled, I proceeded to make an ass of myself nearly choking then laughing until I was finally able to speak. “What?”

Review:

Girl In The Mirror was supposed to be a standalone book, but I'm so excited that Elizabeth Reyes decided to take it into another direction and created the Looking Glass Series. We Were One is an alternate POV novel that felt like I was reading something entirely new. I absolutely love when authors write male POV's and Elizabeth Reyes completely stole my breath away with Nico's POV. He's such a fascinating character and the love he has for his girl his heart-melting.

I won't go into details about what happens in the story because I feel that every reader needs to experience the complete Looking Glass reading journey from the very beginning. What I am going to discuss is how this book gave me all the feels. It was such an emotional book that made me feel a hurricane of emotions. This story is full of passionate, tender, heart-breaking and emotional moments. Nico's love for his girl is so powerful that when tragedy strikes, a river of tears will fall on your cheeks and you will be left with a ball of emotions that you can't control. Tissues are highly recommended!

When I read Girl In The Mirror, I was trying to put together the pieces of an intricate puzzle. With We Were One, I got to see that even if Girl In The Mirror was a fantastic novel, Nico's POV was such a powerful addition to that story. Elizabeth Reyes gave a wonderful gift to her readers when she wrote We Were One. There is no better gift for a reader than to reunite with characters that own a piece of their heart.

The Cortez Brothers are a cast of characters you do not want to miss! Elizabeth Reyes always creates the most fascinating characters that keep you coming back for more! Her writing style is amazing and if you have not read anything by her yet, you are seriously missing out! I'm extremely excited to find out what his next in this series. I'm crossing my fingers that I will soon reunite with these amazing characters! <3

Rating:

I give, We Were One, by Elizabeth Reyes, 5 profound, passionate, gripping, you had me at Vroom stars!
