Synopsis:

Racer, an all-new standalone in the Real Series from New York Times bestselling author Katy Evans is coming September 28th!!!

A bad boy with something to prove.

A woman with a mission.
The race of their lives.
The love of a lifetime.

I don’t think his parents expected him to live up to his name—Racer Tate—but once he felt the adrenaline rush behind the wheel, he was addicted.

He's the fastest, fiercest driver around.

Scouting new talent brings me to his doorstep...
but his smile sends me to my knees.

The sexy, mysterious Racer Tate is not the kind of man a girl like me falls for. He's secretive, reckless, elusive. But his proximity pushes me beyond reason, and his kiss....

This is our last chance to win, and he is our only hope. I'm supposed to watch him—make sure he doesn't get into trouble. But it's an impossible task. And now the one in heart wrenching, toe-curling, soul-crushing trouble is me. Because when your heart belongs to someone, their truths become your own, and their secrets become your salvation...or your curse.

He says he wants me. He says I'm the One. But he also thinks he'll break my heart, one piece at a time until it's gone.

Review:

When I read the announcement that Katy Evans was writing a book for Brooke and Remy's son, I was over the moon excited by the news. This couple owned every single piece of my heart when I read their journey and they still are in my top five favorite couple list. They became more than just characters to me. Each one of their appearance in one of the following book from the Real Series put a huge smile on my face. I knew without a doubt that if Racer would be the main character in this book, mom and dad would be close by ;)

Lana is about to risk it all to save the HW Racing Team. Her family's racing team needs a driver. She wants to prove to all the teams that they still have what it takes to stay in the competition. Racer Tate is not following his father's footsteps. Racing is in his blood.  Not fighting. He might be an illegal street racer, but he's about to show Lana that she made the right decision when she asked him to be their driver. Lana and Racer are about to embark on an intense journey that will bring them around the world. The last thing she expected was for Racer to turn her world upside down. What will happen when the F1 season comes to an end?

Lana and Racer had an amazing chemistry. Racer is just like his dad when it comes to loving someone with intensity and passion. Their journey was filled with sexy, ardent, consuming, emotional moments. I loved seeing how Lana took care of the family business. She might be only twenty-two, but her determination to push her team to the top is admirable. It was fascinating to see Racer in his own world. He grew up around fighters so it was a big step for him to take the decision to go into racing. Both these characters had personal struggles to overcome and I loved how they confided in each other.

I really enjoyed catching up with the cast of the Real Series. I love when an author gives us this little gift. We always wonder how our favorite characters are doing. By getting news from them, it makes me want to read this series all over again. Remy was my first book boyfriend and he will always hold a special place in my heart. Racer stole a piece my heart just like his father did. I loved to follow him on his life journey and how he made it his own. This was a fantastic reading journey that made my heart happy! This book can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend every single book of the Real Series. They are PHENOMENAL!

Rating:

I give, Racer, by Katy Evans, 4.5 intense, passionate, sexy,  adrenaline rush stars!

Excerpt:

I’m still reeling. While people approach him, he cuts a path straight to me, his gaze penetrating and target-like; making me want to bolt.

His lips do that little upward tilt they do that seems so sexy, and for a second, I feel like I’m lightheaded.

I gulp, and then feel mad at myself for acting like some idiot as fucking devil-Racer Tate reaches me, throws himself into a seat next to me, and turns to look at me expectantly with the most gorgeous grin on his face.

I don’t know what to say.

This guy has left me sort of speechless.

“So … ” I say, staring in the distance at his beat-up mustang, then at him.

“So … ” he says too, in his deep voice, his smile a little more wicked than it was two seconds ago. He glances at my mouth.

Oh god.

Why am I licking my lips?

It only made his eyes narrow and darken.

I open my mouth to speak, failing to find words. He smells like sweat and soap and shampoo, and I feel my traitorous nipples push up to my top again. Why do they do that when he’s around?

“This is illegal,” I state.

His voice is husky from exertion, and his eyes glint with laughter. “That’s why it’s fun.” I look away from his eyes, trying to focus and clear my head. He leans over and peers into my face, his face shadowed by the moonlight and his jaw now carrying a little scruff. “Are we in agreement?” he presses.

“No.” I glare and shake my head, meeting his cocky gaze. “You’re reckless, Racer.”

“So are you, Alana.”

“It’s just … Lana.”

His brows fly up in surprise. “And a bit of a liar too.”

I purse my lips, still glaring as my gaze goes back to his car. Girls are rubbing against it as if it were him, and I find it disgusting. Why are women always acting so slutty around race car drivers and bad boys?

“You crashed your car,” I say flippantly.

“You crashed my car,” he contradicts, amused.

I laugh, then scowl in his direction. “You crashed it more. I can’t believe you were making such a fuss about me crashing into you when it was just a little kiss—”

He leans in to peck my lips—fast but firmly. “That’s a kiss.”

I lose my breath.

My eyes wide.

He eases back, lips smiling as he comes to his feet and stretches his hand out to take me by the elbow and help me to my feet.

“Let’s get out of here.” He starts walking, leading the way.

“And go where?”

“Anywhere I can get my hands on you.”

Excerpt:

I placed the foot of my cane on the floor and looked to the left. The sound of light breathing came from around the corner. I made to move, but my heart slammed into a fast beat, stopping my feet in their tracks. My nostrils flared as I closed my eyes and tried to suck in deep breaths. I never did this, never had this kind of reaction to anything. Not in eleven years. Not when I was trapped in darkness. Not even when the guards came to “meet the young kid.” Not when we got out—bloodily, savagely, darkly.

Especially not when my knife plunged into the guards’ hearts and I watched the life fade from their eyes, the pure fascination of losing one’s life essence occupying my mind. But this was Dolly. The only person I’d ever given a shit about.

A slick tar pumped through my black heart as I thought of her. She was the blood that gave me life.

I had no idea what state I would find her in. Whether or not her fragile mind had been destroyed. Whether or not her glass heart had been shattered. No hope of salvation. I had no idea if my only reason for living could be saved. I shook with venomous anger when I let my mind imagine the hell those sadistic cunts would have put her through in my absence. But Chapel’s words rang in my ears . . . Unleash the anger only on those who deserve it. Let it build within your heart like a well swelling with water . . . then unleash hell on those who took your freedom.

Opening my eyes, I breathed through my rage and silently rounded the corner . . . I stopped. There she was, sitting in a chair. I sucked in a breath and heard it rattle in my ears. Her hair. Her hair was pulled back into a long braid, the woven strands falling to her lower back. And she was dressed in black. Long, baggy sleeves covered her arms. Motherfucking black. Dolly didn’t belong in black. Only color. Blue and white and gold and motherfucking pink.

I edged around the perimeter of the room until I faced her. My heart tore down the center and I had to hold back a loud snarl when I saw her curled up on the seat, a thick blanket over her thin legs and waist as she stared lifelessly out of the window. The window that overlooked the once-manicured lawns, now nothing but high-reaching weeds and too-bushy trees. I looked across at what she was watching, in the direction of what held her so captivated.

My heart was severed completely, the two parts of its flesh repelling the other, trying to escape the rage and pain and fucking consuming darkness.

She was staring at the spot where we used to play as kids. Where she had found me all those years ago, ripping the colorful butterfly apart in my hands. I moved into her line of sight, but her blue eyes didn’t lift to meet mine, just stared through me as though I wasn’t even there. I crouched down and studied her face. Porcelain skin. Full lips.

Fucking perfection.

But there was no life left in her.

I had never felt fear before, but I imagined the sinking hole I felt dropping in my stomach was something like it. A sinking feeling that Dolly had gone to a place from which there was no escape, a prisoner in her own mind.

Fragility consumed.

“Dolly darlin,’” I rasped, my voice fucking breaking.

Twenty-one. She was twenty-one and more beautiful than I could ever have imagined.

Perfection.

My living doll.

A strand of hair lay over her face. My fingers clenched and unclenched as I tried to force myself to touch her. But I couldn’t. I hadn’t touched or been touched in years. I didn’t know how to anymore. Allergic to human affection. Repulsed by the degrading feeling of touch.

I . . . I . . . I couldn’t.

As I opened my mouth to speak to Dolly again, a loud gasp sailed through the air behind her. I straightened, gripping my cane, to see a familiar old face appear. I watched, the sinking hole quickly replaced by dark satisfaction as the blood drained from her face. “Good Lord,” she whispered as I smoothed down my black cravat and vest.

I glared at the bitch. Leaning casually on my cane, I said, “More like Lucifer, I would think.” I nodded in her direction “To you, anyhow.”

Mrs. Jenkins swallowed and tried to back out of the room. “Ah-ah,” I tutted and shook my head. She immediately stilled, eyes fixed on mine.

“He . . . Heathan James . . . it’s . . . it’s not possible . . .” she stammered and ran her eyes over me. Every inch of me.

“Rabbit.” The bitch flinched at my correction. “I am Rabbit. The motherfucking White Rabbit. So never fucking utter that peasant name to me again.”

Her skin paled, and her eyes fell to Dolly sitting on the chair. Dolly still hadn’t moved. I shifted my grip on the box I had brought inside, about to hold it out to Mrs. Jenkins when she asked, “How are you here?”

I threw the box across the room. It landed right at her feet. “Dress her.”

“Wh-what?” Mrs. Jenkins asked.

I pointed to the box at her feet. “Dress her. It wasn’t a request.” Mrs. Jenkins shook as she picked up the box and moved to where Dolly sat. Dolly didn’t look at her either. Mrs. Jenkins opened the lid of the box and gasped again.

Her old, wrinkled eyes snapped up to mine. “No—”

Before she had even finished the sentence, I had reached into my pocket and pulled out my knife. I ran the flat side of the blade down my cheek. Slowly. Controlled. Watching her terrified gaze track my every move. “You’d best do as I ask, Mrs. Jenkins. My patience and tolerance for you appear to be at an all-time low.”

Synopsis:

He’s not a douchebag;
but that doesn’t stop his friends from
turning him into one.

MY FRIENDS WANT ME TO GET LAID.

So much so that they plastered my ugly mug all over campus, in bold printed letters:

Are you the lucky lady who’s going to break our roommate’s cherry? Him: socially awkward man with average-sized penis looking for willing sexual partner. You: must have pulse. Text him at: 555-254-5551

The morons can’t even spell. And the texts I’ve been receiving are what wet dreams are made of. But I’m not like these douchebags, no matter how hard they try to turn me into one.

THIS ISN’T THE KIND OF ATTENTION I WANT.

One text stands out from hundreds. One number I can’t bring myself to block. She seems different. Hotter, even in black and white.

However, after seeing her in person, I know she’s not the girl for me. But my friends won’t let up—they just don't get it. Douchebags or not, there's one thing they'll never understand: GIRLS DON’T WANT ME.

Especially her.

How to Date a Douchebag Series on Goodreads:

Review of The Stydying Hours HERE
Review of The Failing Hours HERE

Review:

Seven months ago, I fell in love with a DOUCHEBAG. From the moment I read The Studying Hours, by Sara Ney, I knew that I found a series that would hold a piece of my heart forever. First, it was Jameson and Oz. Then, came Violet and Zeke. Now, Him and Her <3 I'm keeping the names a secret because fans of The How to Date a Douchebag Series need to find out on their own who the H and h are. From the EPIC hashtag to the heart-melting epilogue, The Learning Hours absolutely owned every single piece of my heart!

I usually do a little recap of the story to include in my review. With this book, I won't. Not because I don't want to, but because I feel that every reader needs to experience this story just like I did. We got the blurb and cover and what comes next will blow your mind!!! The H and h have this slow burn romance that will activate the butterfly effect in your tummies. The sexual tension between them is blazing and each moment that they create together is EXQUISITE!

The hero left me in a puddle of mush from the very beginning. I was #TeamHim from the very beginning. The heroine made me feel many emotions. I was not sure that I could connect with her. Boy was I wrong! The connection I had with these characters was strong and I never wanted to let them go. Their love made my heart explode with happiness. Books like these are the reason I lose sleep, forget to eat and put aside any adulting.

The Learning Hours was on my most anticipated reads of 2017. Sara Ney exceeded all of my expectations by writing one of the most beautiful, captivating, heart-melting love story that I have ever read. This slow burn romance gave me ALL the feels!!! The book hangover that comes with reading each book in this series is BRUTAL. These stories linger with you with many days after you have turned the last page. Sara Ney's writing style is FABULOUS!!! It transports you into a world where you want to live in. When you read one of her books you're not only reading a story, you're living it at the same time as the characters. You cheer, cry, laugh, scream with them.

I don't know how to move on. I wish I could read this book all over again for the very first time. I want to reread their mesmerizing love story that started out by an awkward text, turned into a friendship and bloomed into love. The unforgettable moments that these two characters shared are imprinted in my soul. They gave me the best gift a reader can receive ... An extraordinary reading journey that left me breathless.

I can't recommend this series enough. If you have never read a book by Sara Ney, you are seriously missing out on some amazing reads! I highly recommend this series and the other books she has written. Her writing style is unique, fun, captivating and her stories will always leave you with a smile on your lips and a heart bursting with joy. I recommend that you read this series from in order. You do not want to skip The Studying Hours & The Failing Hours. Jameson, Oz, Violet and Zeke are amazing!!!!

Rating:

I give, The Learning Hours, by Sara Ney, 5 all-consuming, swoony, intense, passionate, romantic, I'm in douchebag heaven stars!
