This is my first book by J.L. Perry. The cover of this book caught my attention and so did the blurb. After reading a few reviews, I decided to read Bastard. I am so happy I did!!! OMG!!! This book surprised me in the best possible way! I read a lot of NA books and this book was like a breath of fresh air. Indiana and Carter are two phenomenal characters with a beautiful story. Their journey made me smile, swoon and it made me cry.
Carter Reynolds life has never been easy. Growing up without a father figure was hard for Carter. His mom was always there to show her support and love him unconditionally, but he always felt empty inside. People told him so many times that he was a bastard so he eventually started acting like one. When is mom breaks the news that she's getting married, Carter is not happy. His future stepdad is an evil man that makes Carter's life a living hell. When he moves into his new home, the last thing he expected was to fall hard for the girl next door. Indiana Montgomery is everything he does not need. Every moment he spends with her make him feel things that he's never felt before. As days go by, their feelings grow for each other. Will Indiana be able to bring out the best in Carter and make him want more?
Carter started building a barrier around his heart at a young age. Only his mom had a place in his heart ... Until Indi came along. The more time he spent with her, the more she got under his skin. I loved Carter's transformation. I really liked that it was not instant. It took Carter's years to become the man that he is today. He had to make some difficult decisions, but in the end those decisions gave him a reason to live and become the man he was meant to be.
My heart broke for Indi when her world came crashing down. She had a difficult journey, but Carter's love made her stronger. Indi never expected to fall in love with Carter. He was a jerk to her many times, but their chemistry was undeniable. Every moment of their journey together was meant to be.
I loved every single moment of my reading journey! This book was divided in two parts. I have to admit that the second part totally stole my heart! That part is where I felt the deep love between Indi and Carter. My heart is melting all over again just thinking about them! Carter and Indi have grown so much on this journey.
You could feel the chemistry between Indi and Carter from the moment that they met. It's super intense and I was on the edge of my seat for their first kiss. There is a thin line between love and hate. When Indi and Carter crossed that line, it was an explosion of unforgettable moments. I was cheering for this couple from beginning to end! I wanted to them to get the HEA that they deserved. This story left me glued to my seat and I read it in one sitting. I could not stop reading!! The writing style was perfect, the main couple is intoxicating and the cast of supporting characters each had their own personal moments in Indi and Carter's journey. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a memorable reading journey!

About the Author:
J L Perry is a mother and a wife. She was born in Sydney, Australia in 1972, and has lived there her whole life. Her love of reading, from a young age, gave her the passion to write. My Destiny was originally written for her sister, in 2013. It was never intended to be published. However, after finishing this book, she felt there was still a lot of Brooke and Logan's story left to tell. This inspired her to write My Forever. With the encouragement of her family and friends, she decided to follow her dream and become a published Author.
That dream was realised on the 6th of June, 2014.
My Destiny is her debut novel in the Destiny Series. My Forever is the conclusion to this book. Her third book Damaged - Jacinta's Story will be released October 15th, 2014. This is a stand alone book, but is based on a character in My Forever. Her fourth book Against All Odds, is also a stand alone book. It will be released May, 2015. She is also currently writing a fifth book, A Beautiful Bastard. It's a stand alone and totally away from the Destiny Series. It will be available late 2015.
J L's love of romance and happy endings makes a perfect combination when it comes to writing her beautiful love stories.
Her hobbies include reading, writing, drinking wine, shopping, listening to music, cake decorating and anything artistic or creative. She loves spending time with her family, friends and pets when she isn't writing. She also loves being outdoors and travelling and exploring the world.
I haven't read this author before. I will agree that the cover does grab your attention. Lots of yummy chemistry is a plus for sure. Adding it to my list.
