Summary:
In this grippingly emotional New Adult novel from the author of Caged in Winter, what you want isn’t always what you need…
Jason’s been living (and loving) the rich playboy lifestyle for five years, but now his parents are pressuring him to get involved in the family business. The last thing he wants is another obligation, but when his best friend moves out of state and asks Jason to look after his sister, he can’t just say no.
Tessa had to grow up way too soon. After dealing with the aftermath of her parents’ deaths, then becoming a teenage mom, she knows the meaning of responsibility. Which is why, at twenty-two, she’s looking for so much more than a party boy. She’s looking for someone who can stand by her and her daughter…forever.
A relationship between them is doomed from the start, but who says they can’t have a little fun? But as Jason gets closer to Tessa—and her daughter—fun starts to turn into something else… Something Jason’s not sure he’s ready for.
My Thoughts:
Tessa Ever After is the second book in the Caged in Winter Series by Brighton Walsh. It is told in the dual perspectives of the main characters, Tessa "Tess" and Jason "Jase." I was extremely excited to delve in to this novel, because I loved Caged in Winter and all of the characters, especially Tessa. This story can be read as a standalone easily. Whereas, Caged in Winter was about Cade (Tessa's older brother,) and his love interest, Winter, we now get a whole new story with focusing on different characters.
Tessa became a teenage mother at the young age of seventeen. She has been working hard to support her daughter, Haley, with the constant support and assistance of her older brother Cade. However, when Cade get's an opportunity to make his dreams come true, Tessa encourages him to take the job. Cade ends up moving to Chicago with his girlfriend, Winter, and Tessa is now struggling with her life as a single parent, and no help.
Jason, Cade's best friend begins to be a shoulder to lean on for Tessa. He begins to stop by frequently, bonds with little four year old, Haley, and is there for Tessa whenever she is in a bind. Attraction bubbles between Tessa and Jason. However, Jason has always been a womanizer, and Tessa doesn't know if it would be smart to take a chance on Jason. Can he prove, that he's changed, and wants a life with her and Haley?
Tessa Ever After was such a sweet story. It had two of my favorite romance tropes; friends to lovers, and the brother's best friend falling in love with his best friend's little sister. Tessa Ever After was such a sweet and heartwarming story. Tessa, Jason, and Haley's character's came to life for me. They were real, relatable, and extremely likable. My heart melted whenever Jason spent quality time with Haley. He was so sweet, attentive, and loving with her. The romance between Tessa and Jase was like a real life fairytale. I adored them together. They were so in love, and all of the passion and emotion that they felt towards one another felt real, and vibrant!
My Rating:
Tessa Ever After was a beautiful love story! All of you romance lovers that enjoy a tender, sweet, and heartwarming story, with all of the "feels" will love this story! I give, Tessa Ever After, by Brighton Walsh, 4.5 Beautiful, Butterflies in the Stomach, "This is What Fairytales Are Made Of" Filled Stars!
