GR's Summary:
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Abbi Glines comes the next new adult novel in the Rosemary Beach series, in which we meet Mase, a Texas heartthrob first introduced in Take a Chance who comes to Rosemary Beach to stir things up.
I had an urge to fix all her problems. Which was stupid. She was doing fine without me. But something about those big eyes…
Mase Colt-Manning has always preferred his humble life as a Texas rancher to his birthright as the son of a legendary rock star. In fact, he rarely visits his father’s rarefied world in Rosemary Beach, especially if it means bunking at his vile half-sister Nan’s house—until one visit leads to a chance encounter with a young, gorgeous house maid who awakens him with her off-key but spirited imitation of a country music star…
Reese Ellis finally has her freedom. After escaping a lifetime of abuse from her parents and classmates for an undiagnosed learning disorder, she seizes the opportunity to be a house maid to some of the richest families in Rosemary Beach. But her job is in jeopardy when she causes an accident at the home of her most important client, Nan Dillon. When a hot, half-naked stranger with a cowboy’s swagger comes to her rescue, she’s intrigued—then afraid once he shows his own interest. Reese has never met a trustworthy man in her life. Will Mase be any different?

My Thoughts:
The Rosemary Beach Series is one of my favorite New Adult Series'. It has an unbelievably amazing and memorable cast of characters, sexy romance, and is riddled with plot twists that keep me riveted. It is no wonder that this series is so addictive! When I begin a book in this series, I never take longer than a day to finish it. These are the type of books, you just don't want to put down.
In When I'm Gone, we get Mase Manning (Harlow and Nan's half-brother,) and Reese Ellis' story. It is a story that grabbed my attention immediately, and never let it go. Told from Mase and Reese's dual perspectives, we get a story that is entertaining and enthralling. Reese has had a difficult life. She was verbally, physically, and sexually abused as a child. She was brainwashed into believing that she was stupid, when really what she has is Dyslexia, a learning disability. She leaves her home at a young age, and is determined to make it on her own. Reese cleans homes for the wealthy in Rosemary Beach, has her own apartment, and keeps to herself. She is a knockout, and though men constantly hit on her, she keeps her distance from them.
Mase has his own ranch in Texas. However, he is extremely close to his half sister, Harlow, and visits her often. When he's down in Rosemary Beach, he stays at Nan's house, while she is in Paris. On one such occasion, he meets the beautiful and sexy Reese. He is intrigued by her. It is not just her beauty that has him drawn to her, but also the fact that she seems a little lost, and like she could use some help. Mase and Reese become friends, and talk on the phone frequently after he gets her a tutor to help with her Dyslexia, and returns to Texas. Feelings between them grow, but can Reese trust Mase, when every man in her life has hurt her?
I have loved Mase since the moment that he was introduced to me. However, in this story, my love for Mase has reached the ultimate height. He is so sweet, caring, tender, and patient with Reese. Mase is a real gentleman, who is selfless, and puts her needs before his own. I loved how protective and gallant Mase was with Reese. When he decided she was his "one," he gave her all of him. Reese was very vulnerable, had a lot of scars from her past, and just needed someone to encourage and believe in her. Mase was what she needed.
When I'm gone was another excellent read in the Rosemary Beach Series. It ended with a plot twist, and I am really looking forward to continuing Mase and Reese's story in the next book, When Your Back!
My Rating:
I give, When I'm Gone, by Abbi Glines, 5 Romantic, Swoon-Worthy, Trusting, Healing, "Being Loved by Mase" Filled Stars! It was wonderful being reunited with all of my favorite characters from this series. I cannot get enough of Rush, Blaire, Woods, Della, Grant, Harlow, Jimmy, and everyone else! I love this amazing cast of characters, and will be really sad the day this series ends!

Mase sounds like a character I need to meet! I actually read the first three books in the series, but I didn't enjoy them as much as I was hoping. I think I should at least pick up the others in the series :D
