Throb, by Vi Keeland, was such a fun and sexy reading escape! When I read the blurb for the first time I was very intrigued by it. I love reality TV shows and I was looking forward to reading a book that included some of the elements that keep me glued in front of my TV. Vi Keeland delivered! I read Throb in one sitting!
Kate and Cooper are two characters that I absolutely had a blast following. Kate enters a TV reality show that is similar to The Bachelor. She's focused on winning the big prize at the end of this roller coaster ride of a journey, but was she did not expect was for Cooper Montgomery to show up and make her plan go down the drain. From the moment he meets Kate, Cooper is mesmerized. Every moment that he spends with her makes him want more. One touch, kiss, taste won't be enough. Kate slowly falls for Cooper, but is she willing to break the rules and risk it all for love?
I really enjoyed this story! It was so easy to fall in love with the main characters. Their chemistry was HOT! When these two were in the same room you could feel the sexual tension between them. And, the moment they got together?!?!?! Holy Crapola! That was *Fans Self* kind of scorching! Cooper is one alpha male that you do not want to miss! He's a dirty talker and he knows exactly what he wants. He made me swoon so many times! He's really something! You could really see in his actions that Kate was a special for him. He could have anybody in Hollywood, but his heart only beats for this lovely contestant of Throb. Kate was a fun heroine. I really liked her and even if I did want to slap some sense into her at some point of the story she kept me cheering for her until the very end. I'm not going to say much about the story because I went in thinking that I knew the kind of story I was reading, but I was really surprised by how everything played out. I loved that I got to know these characters very well. The author did a fantastic job at telling us their story.
My first series by this author was the MMA Fighter Series. I knew that Throb was going to be a different read, but the one thing that I was happy to see is that her secondary character are still an important part of the story. Throb had great secondary characters that kept the story interesting. I like it when an author creates a little crew that fits so well together. Some you love, and some you hate, but together they make the story come alive. I really had a great time reading Throb. This is a standalone novel. Another character will be getting their own book, which will be releasing later on this year. I really can't wait to read Beat. I know I am in for another fantastic reading escape!

Excerpt:
My lips brush the top of her hand lightly, my tongue sneaking out to fleetingly touch her skin. The brief contact stirs an ache inside me. This woman tugs at something—more than arousal—something that makes me want to slow down time just to spend a few more minutes standing here.
“Did you just…” she stammers a bit.
“Did I just what?”
She squints at me. “You know.”
“Do I?”
“I felt your tongue on my hand. You…you licked me.”
I’d been dying to run my tongue along her neck all evening, although I hadn’t really meant to be so crude about it. It just sort of …happened. “I wouldn’t say licked, maybe just a little taste.”
“So you tasted me?”
My entire body suddenly has interest in this conversation. “I suppose I did. But it wasn’t nearly enough. That brings us back to my invitation for dinner. Tomorrow night?”
“I can’t.”
“The day after then?” She laughs and shakes her head. The sound makes me smile.
“Good night, Cooper.” She pulls the driver’s side door shut and leaves me standing there…for a full five minutes after she’s gone.
“And?”
“And I kissed him when we were in his office.”
“How was his office?”
“Really? That’s what you want to know. Not how was the kiss or aren’t you in breach of your contract? How was his office?”
“You can tell a lot about a man by his office.”
I gulp another unladylike sip from my wine glass. “His office was beautiful. Sleek, overlooking the city. It oozed power.”
“Nice. Bet he f*cks like he owns you.” The thought of what he’s like in bed is enough to make me lose my train of thought.
“Go on,” Sadie prods.
I don’t continue immediately.
“You forgot what you were up to because you were thinking of him f*cking you like he owns you, didn’t you?” My best friend smirks knowingly.
“Shut up.” I pause. “Anyway, I don’t know what I’m going to do.”
“Well, him. Obviously.”
“I wish it were that easy.”
“You haven’t even begun to see bossy yet. Tonight I’m going to tell you to do things, and you’re going to do them. When I tell you to open wider, or take my c*ck deeper, you’re going to listen. You know why? Because since the moment we met, all I’ve wanted to do is make you feel good. Hell, I don’t even need to get off physically. Because I’m going to get off watching you every minute. So, yeah, I’m going to be bossy. Now let’s put the rest of this behind us. Do you want to be with me tonight?”
After that prelude, I nod my head fast. I’m no fool. Who wouldn’t?
Every girl needs three things
1. A flutter in her belly when she meets him for the first time.
Meet Cooper

About the Author:
Vi Keeland is a native New Yorker with three children that occupy most of her free time, which she complains about often, but wouldn't change for the world. She is a bookworm and has been known to read her kindle at stop lights, while styling her hair, cleaning, walking, during sporting events, and frequently while pretending to work. She is a boring attorney by day, and an exciting smut author by night!
Alright, so the truth about my 32 year old self is this.... I don't do well with naughty in books. Well, I can handle sex in books, but when it gets graphic/explicit, I turn a lovely shade of tomato, even when I am home alone with just the dogs. And it honestly can take some of the enjoyment away for me, because it tends to pull me right out of the story. Which is always disappointing, especially when a synopsis catches your attention, as Throb's caught mine. Sigh...
ReplyDeleteAwesome review Mikki I am not entering in this giveaway but I will be truthful to you I really can't stand reality tv shows nope there are just not my cup of tea so when I first heard about this book I was a little iffy about it and said I was not going to check it out but after reading your review now I am really interested to check it out and see if I like it or not because I really do love alpha males.
ReplyDeleteOh my. I think I may NEED this one.
