My Thoughts:
Wow! Bravo Ms. Cole! You have completely floored me! Nocte was an amazing psychological suspense story! It had mystery, intrigue, darkness, complexity, and was a huge puzzle, that I still haven't solved! I loved every moment of Nocte. I was pulled in to Calla's world from the very beginning, and an intricate and multi-layered world it was...
In Nocte, we meet Calla Price and her twin brother Finn Price. These two are extremely close and protective of one another. Finn is mentally unstable, and Calla takes it upon herself to keep him functioning in a healthy manner. Then, there is the delicious, sexy, Brittish love interest, Dare DuBray. He has a sexy accent, and I know every woman who reads this story will go gaga for him! Dare is mysterious, and harbors a secret, one in which Calla is determined to figure out!
Nocte is one of those stories in which you try to dissect every single clue to figure out what is going on. You know that there is a lot more to the story than meets the eye, but it's not all laid out in front of you. This mystery, had me turning pages like a crazy woman. By the time I got to the end of the story, I was dying to learn the secret. I had many different theories in the works, and yet, I was still left in complete surprise by the ending! I will say that even though you learn the secret, the ending leaves you with even more questions, and a major cliffhanger. Nocte is going to be a trilogy, along with a Novella included. I'm glad I got some answers, but my curiosity is still piqued, and I can't wait to see what Ms. Cole still has up her sleeve.
My Rating:
I highly recommend Nocte. If you are like me and enjoy stories full of mystery, suspense, layers, and intensity; this is one book that you don't want to miss out on. I give Nocte, by Courtney Cole, 4.5 Dark, Chilling, Intricate, and Addictive Stars!!! Be prepared for this story to take you on one heck of a crazy roller coaster ride!!!

Courtney Cole is a novelist who would eat mythology for breakfast if she could. She has a degree in Business, but has since discovered that corporate America is not nearly as fun to live in as fictional worlds. She loves chocolate and roller coasters and hates waiting and rude people. Courtney lives in quiet suburbia, close to Lake Michigan, with her real-life Prince Charming, her ornery kids (there is a small chance that they get their orneriness from their mother) and a small domestic zoo.

ReplyDeleteFor some reason, I was under the impression that this had to do with mermaids, so I didn't pay much attention to it. But I read a review about a week ago, and I realized my huge mistake. It seems I have been an idiot. Because I love a good mystery/suspense, and this sounds like the perfect one of those! Thank you for the review!!
