Last year I had the chance to review Kiss Me in Paris by this dynamic duo. I was left with a big smile on my face when I finished reading it. I was happy to see that they had written a new series, which is The Red Shoe Memoirs.
The first installment of this new sexy and fun series is about Kacie Michaels and Dr. Sebastian Donovan. They meet one night in a bar and after a few glasses of booze and a kiss that sealed their fate, Kacie and Sebastian wake up married. Kacie never expected to wake up married to a sexy doctor. When they wake up the next day, Kacie can't remember all the details of the night before. Everything is a blur, but Sebastian asks her to give their couple a chance at one summer together. After that period of time together, they can go their own way if it does not work out. As days go by, Kacie and Sebastian grow closer together. Kacie's fears catch up with her, and she has mixed emotions about this whole marriage deal. Will Kacie be able to conquer her fears and give her marriage with Sebastian a chance?
I really enjoyed this story. It was fun, steamy and fast-paced. Even if I enjoyed this story I have to admit that I had a hard time connecting with Sebastian. This book was written in Kacie's POV so I understand why it took me some time to connect with him. I usually read books in dual POV's and this was a bit different for me. I really loved when we got to know him better. The moment he shared the reason why he wanted to become a doctor totally melted my heart. Kacie is really easy to relate to. She was a fun character to follow. She encountered some obstacles that she was not expecting, but with the help of her family and friends she took the right decisions and she achieved her goals.
I usually like the couple to have an insta-chemistry/slow romance kind of relationship. I like the sexual tension that builds up to their first touch, kiss, moment of passion together. These two heated things up from the beginning and there was a lot of sex scenes between them. I can't deny that this couple has an explosive chemistry! Even if those scenes are extremely hot and well written I was looking for a stronger romantic connection between them to make me connect more with their couple.
I also enjoyed reading about the secondary characters. Tate (Kacie's brother) and Vi (Kacie's BFF) were really fun! I'm happy that the next installment is about Vi. She's quite the character! I loved seeing these three hang out and have a fun time together. They are a hilarious group of friends that are always there for each other. Tate was an awesome brother to Kacie. They worked hard to get HITCHED, which is their bachelor/bachelorette party planning company, to where it is today. One character that I did not like at all was a character from Sebastian's past. I totally wanted to jump in the story and deliver some much needed virtual slaps to this character!
Overall I enjoyed this story and it kept me engaged from beginning to end! The Red Shoe Memoirs series, by Karpov Kinrade is sexy and fun!
