Synopsis:
Hockey star Alexander Crossman has a reputation as a cold-hearted player on and off the rink. Pushed into the sport by an alcoholic father, Alex isn’t afraid to give fans the proverbial middle finger, relishing his role as the MVP they love to hate. Management, however, isn’t so amused. Now Alex has a choice: fix his public image through community service or ride the bench. But Alex refuses to be molded into the Carolina Cold Fury poster boy . . . not even by a tempting redhead with killer curves.
As a social worker, Sutton Price is accustomed to difficult people—like Alex, who’s been assigned to help her create a drug-abuse awareness program for at-risk youth as part of the team’s effort to clean up his image. What she doesn’t expect is the arrogant smirk from his perfect lips to stir her most heated fantasies. But Sutton isn’t one to cross professional boundaries—and besides, Alex doesn’t do relationships . . . or does he? The more she sees behind Alex’s bad-boy façade, the more Sutton craves the man she uncovers.

Lindy's Thoughts:
I have read a few books by Sawyer Bennett, and have enjoyed each and every one. When I saw, Alex, I absolutely loved the book cover, and couldn't wait to begin this new series. Sexy and gorgeous hockey players? Well, yes please!!!
Alex is a character filled with anger, bitterness, and emotional scars. His father has been an alcoholic his whole life and pawned his shattered dreams of playing hockey professionally on to his son.
As a child Sutton was raised by a loving mother and an abusive heroin addict father. Her life changed for the better when her mother left him, and met and married "Jim-Dad," a loving stepfather and husband. Then her little brother Glenn was born, and even though they dealt with financial struggles, Sutton was happy to have a loving family.
Sutton became a drug counselor and has been given the opportunity to begin an addiction prevention program with Alex, who is being forced to participate in this endeavor by the Cold Fury's management. When Alex meets Sutton for the first time, he thinks she's beautiful and sexy. As the two begin to work together, their attraction sizzles and their friendship grows. Pretty soon the two of them are embarking on a relationship, but can they be happy, or is Alex doomed to hurt Sutton and break her heart?
Alex and Sutton had a relationship that grew into something very beautiful. I loved watching Alex's character growth. The transformation was great to watch, and just goes to prove that love heals. The love scenes between Alex and Sutton were HOT! HOT! HOT!!! Whew!!!

My Rating:
I give, Alex, by Sawyer Bennett, 4 Second Chances, Sizzling Hot Chemistry, and Love Heals Filled Stars! I am looking forward to the sequel in the series, Garrett, because he was such a fun and entertaining secondary character. I'm hoping to continue to get more Alex and Sutton throughout the rest of the series as well.
Mikki's Review:
When I found out that Sawyer Bennett was writing a series about hockey players, I was extremely excited! I'm a HUGE hockey fan. The different kinds of emotions that you get while watching a hockey game are out of this world! I like to watch different sports on TV, but my favorite is hockey. When I see that an author as written a story about a hockey player or hockey club I can fall in love with, I automatically add it on my TBR list. Sawyer Bennett did an amazing job with the first installment of the Cold Fury Hockey series! Alex and Sutton's story was wild, passionate and emotional!
In this first installment of the Cold Fury Hockey series we follow Sutton Price and Alex Crossman. Life has been difficult for both these characters. Alex grew up with an abusive and alcoholic father who turned him into the player he is today. Alex might be the MVP of the team, but he couldn't care less. His bad attitude towards his teammates and fans have gotten him into trouble more than once. Management has had enough of his bad attitude and they are determined to make it stop. When his behavior lands him at the Wake County Drug Crisis Center to work with a counselor on a program for at-risk youth, the last thing he expected was for Sutton Price to be a woman. A woman who turns his world upside down. A woman who for the first time in his life makes him want more. Will he be able to let go of the demons of his past or will the darkness that surrounds him take over his life?
Oh, mama! These two have serious chemistry together!! I had butterflies in my stomach from the moment that they met up until they shared their first kiss. Holy Moly! These two are so freakin' hot!!! Plenty of *Fans Self* moments in this sexy novel. I have to admit that I fell hard for Mr. Crossman. His journey touched my heart and I was cheering non-stop for him to find happiness. I won't deny that he was a total jerk sometimes. When I started reading this book, I knew that the heroine that was going to cross his path needed to be strong and determined to get through all those layers of pain he was hiding under.
Sutton was exactly the kind of person that Alex needed in his life. Her life was not always easy, but she learned how to turn things around and make the most out of everything that she had. The support and guidance that she gives to the people who are most in need of her help is remarkable! I loved all the little moments that she shared with her family. So heartwarming and beautiful! Sutton is such a wonderful person and she has a heart of gold! She's exactly the kind of heroine I love to cheer for in a book!
What I liked about the way this story was written is that Alex did not change from one day to the other. He had decisions to make and he may not always have taken the right ones, but he learned from them. This was a learning and healing journey for him. Sutton appeared in his life when he least expected it, but when he most needed her. I also liked the way Garrett, which is the main character in the second installment of this series, was introduced. He had a big part in this story in my opinion. Alex never had any friends in his life. Garrett was an amazing friend and teammate. He crushed all those walls that were around Alex and he did not care at all if Alex wanted him in his life. He never missed an opportunity to bust his chops ... lol!!! I really liked him and I can't wait to read his book!
Overall, this new series is awesome and I can't wait to cheer for the rest of the team! This book was a page-turning reading escape written in a dual POV. I highly recommend this novel!
Rating:
I give, Alex, by Sawyer Bennett 4.5 exciting, romantic, sexy stars!
