Playing it safe never felt so risky. Erin Watters is her small town’s resident wild child—she doesn’t do boring, and after having her heart annihilated, she definitely doesn’t do relationships. Her friends have other ideas, though, and when they throw down a matchmaking challenge, impulsive Erin can’t ignore it. Even when the annoyingly hot Troy Strieber accepts the matchmaker role… As a rescue paramedic, Troy’s used to watching out for people. Never mind the bet he made with his buddy to play Erin’s wingman. But the more time he spends with the sexy, charismatic woman, the more he discovers a side of her she doesn’t let many see. Soon what started as an innocent game of matchmaking has them both thinking about the person right under their nose. But Troy’s a play-it-safe guy, and he won’t let a woman who lives for risk ever steal his heart.

My Thoughts:

Wild About her Wingman, by Robin Bielman, was such a fun, sweet, and fast-paced story!  I loved every moment of it!  When Erin was in college, she was in a serious long term relationship.  However, after she found out that that he was cheating on her, and had been during the whole duration of their relationship, Erin changed.  She stopped trusting men, and decided that she would never let another man break her heart again. Erin became an adrenaline junkie soon after, and when she was feeling the rush from rock climbing, sky diving, and other pursuits, she found herself living in the moment, free of pain.  From that point on Erin became a thrill seeker, had flings, and one night stands, but nothing that could become serious.  She had a 3 date rule, where she refused to see anyone again after 3 dates.  However, many of Erin's good friends and siblings are now in serious relationships, and she is feeling lonely and left out.  With the help of her younger sister, Teague, they develop a list of all of the qualities and characteristics that she wants in a boyfriend.

Erin's list makes the rounds, and one of Erin's friends volunteers the good looking, but very serious fireman paramedic, Troy to play matchmaker.  Troy has a record for being successful at making love matches.  His friend makes a bet that he can't find Erin her perfect match.  Troy loves a challenge, and accepts, determined to win the bet, and get out of grocery shopping (a chore he absolutely hates) for a few months.  Erin and Troy are attracted to one another, but appear to be opposites, and are  not what the other is looking for in a partner.  Erin appears reckless, wild, and to be seeking adrenaline highs, without thinking about the risks.  Troy appears conservative, boring, and all about playing it safe.  However, the more these two get to know one another, the more they learn about the person behind the superficial image.

I loved the way that Erin and Troy developed such a strong and meaningful friendship.  Their romance was a very slow, but deep burn.  The emotional connection, flirty banter, sexual chemistry, and support they gave each other was communicated beautifully by Ms. Bielman.  I loved how they had both judged each other by the images they portrayed, but then they peeled back layer upon layer to discover each others deepest secrets, fears, wishes, and the essence of who they really were as people.  I enjoyed connecting with Erin and Troy's characters, and came to really care about they, and hope that they's find their way to each other and a H.E.A.

I haven't read the first two books in this series, but each book can be read as a standalone.  However, I really enjoyed getting to know Erin's older brother Luke, and his significant other/Erin's good friend Sela.  I also grew quite fond of Erin's good friend, Kagan, and would like to read her story, with the man she falls in love with, Shane.  I'm hopping that Erin's younger sister, Teague, gets her own story as well.  She was such a sweet and likable character, and deserves to find happiness.  Troy's little four year old niece, Amelia, stole the show a few times, and was a great secondary character.  I plan o going back and reading the first two books in this eerie, because I really enjoyed the colorful cast of secondary characters, and can't wait to revisit all of them!

My Rating:

I give, Wild About her Wingman, by Robin Bielman, 4 sweet, funny, secret wish fulfilled Stars!  It was a lovely read, that would be perfect for a beautiful spring day.  I loved this romance, and look forward to reading more in the Secret Wishes Series!

My Favorite Quote:

"She wanted to stay the same unemotional woman she'd been a couple of months ago, but Mr. Hottie Paramedic had screwed that up.  With his kindness.  With his sense of humor.  With his chivalry.  With his sense of adventure.  Dormant for now.  And no matter how hard she tried to convince herself otherwise, she'd gone and grown attached to her wingman."  (eARC, Loc. 1779)

About Robin Bielman:
Robin Bielman lives in Southern California with her high school sweetheart husband, two sons, and crazy-cute mini Labradoodle, Harry (named after Harry Dresden from Jim Butcher's Dresden Files books). When not attached to her laptop, she can almost always be found with her nose in a book. She also likes to run, hike, and dip her toes in the ocean. Filled with wanderlust, she longs to visit many different places and fulfill her curiosity. She wouldn’t mind indulging her sweet tooth in every location either. She’s a lover of Post-it notes, cable television shows and café mochas. Writing is a dream come true, and she still pinches herself to be sure it’s real.

  1. First, I love that title. It's nice to have a story where they become friends first and I like the idea of them being opposites. Nice review.

  4. Oh I love Bliss books, and I like how the characters a little bit of role reversal, with the outgoing girl and the conservative guy! And I like the sounds of flirty banter and sexual chemistry - the two most important things in a contemporary romance for me! Good to know it can be read as a standalone :)
