My Review:
So, a few days ago I started reading about Samantha and Christos' journey in Fearless. I loved the first installment of The Story of Samantha Smith and I could not wait to read what was next for this awesome couple! Reckless was great!
In Reckless, we follow Christos and Samantha's journey as a couple. Even if they started their relationship in Fearless, I feel that Reckless was all about their emotional journey together. There was so much stuff happening in both their lives. Samantha has a lot of important decisions to take concerning school. She decides to change her major from Accounting to Art. Her decision brings consequences that she was not expecting and she now as to deal with them. With Christos' support she is determined to be Fearless and fight for what she wants. Christos life spins out of control in Reckless. He has Samantha's love and a blooming career, but the secrets he's been keeping from Samantha are about to turn is world upside down.
What I love the most about Devon Hartford's books is that it's so easy to relate to the story. Everything that happened to Samantha and Christos is something that could happen in our everyday life and that we can connect with. There was never a moment while reading this series that I said to myself ''This only happens in books.'' Samantha's situation with her parents is something that I have heard of before. I have very supportive parents, but some of my friends don't. Samantha's tears broke my heart and I knew exactly what she was going through. Some of my friends are going through the same situation. Christo's and her friends are there 100% behind every decision that she makes and are always there to show their support. Not only did she have to deal with her parents, but she also had to deal with two unexpected admirers who will not let her go. I loved the way she dealt with both of them. You can really see that she has only eyes for Christos.
Christos was a real surprise for me in this book. I am so glad that Devon Hartford decided to include his POV in this book. I loved reading about his thoughts. We got flashbacks of when he met Samantha and I think that it was important to read that from his POV since it's connected with what will happen later on with the storyline. He is such an amazing boyfriend to Samantha. The way he dealt with Samantha's Vcard situation was amazing!! He made her feel comfortable and he respected her. I swooned and laughed when I read about it. It was real. The steaminess factor in Reckless is turned up a notch compared to Fearless. So, expect some steamy scenes between these two ;)
Ok, I'm not a big fan of cliffhangers. I hate them!!! I have learned with time to live with them. I used to put a series on the side until every book was out because I could not stand those damn cliffhangers!!! But, I changed! I now find that the more the cliffhanger has an OMG I NEED THIS BOOK LIKE YESTERDAY!!!! kind of ending, the more I enjoy the book when it comes out. There is nothing more exciting than to see that book show up on your news feed with the word LIVE next to it ;) This book had a HUGE cliffhanger and I cannot wait to see what happens next. I screamed NOOOOOO! and, after my heart broke :( Oh, my God!!! What's going to happen next?!?!?! Eeeeeep!!! I'm reading Painless as soon as I finish typing this review :P
I give, Reckless, by Devon Hartford, 4 emotional, steamy, page-turning, captivating stars! I am so happy I got a chance to discover this awesome series! :)
About the Author:
WHY I WRITE ROMANCE NOVELS FOR WOMEN
A lot of people ask me, “Why is a guy writing romance novels for women?”
The answer is simple. Everyone falls in love. Even Men.
Imagine that.
Of course, I’m half-joking, but also half-serious. Most men behave as if they have no emotions and certainly never—GASP!—talk about them. Men control their emotions. No man is a man if he lets his emotions get the best of him, right? Men conquer their emotions.
Hardly.
Emotions are as much a part of a man’s human experience as they are a woman’s. I’m sure the specifics are as different as individual people can be. But if a man wants to have a complete experience as a human being, he must embrace his emotional nature and learn to understand it.
What better way to explore emotions than to focus on stories centering around emotional experiences? Including the most intense emotional experience of all, love?
Having read a slew of New Adult romances in the past year, I noticed again and again that these novels dealt with the repressed pain of emotional scars and how love can help heal our wounds. Everyone has emotional scars. Women and men. Everyone hopes to heal, and a loving relationship can be a conduit for both partners to heal together.
My own stories feature characters who are on a quest to heal their pain. I believe this is a universal desire. It’s my hope that readers of my stories may heal in some small way or gain some perspective regarding their own emotional wounds.
I'm so glad this series is good. I got the first one and can't wait to read it. Thanks for another great review.
