ARC for Review
A girl with a past she can't remember. A guy with a past he can't forget.
Ivy McAllister had it all. Perfect boyfriend. Perfect life. Perfect future. Or so they tell her. Because one night, on a dark country road, a fiery crash changed everything…and Ivy can’t remember what happened.
Now, two years later, at a new college far from home, she tries to regain control of her life, but her plans don’t include a tattooed, motorcycle-riding, indie music-obsessed guy with his own sorority girl fan club.
Jon Priestly is the hottest guy at Pacific State University. Just ask his groupies. But with a dark past he must keep hidden, he shuts himself off emotionally and trusts no one. That is…until he meets a broken girl with haunting green eyes and secrets of her own.
Ivy shouldn’t be attracted to Jon. They’re wrong for each other in every possible way. Yet as they spend time together, something about him—everything about him—feels so right. But when threats from her past make her question what little she does remember, Ivy must decide whether to run again or trust the one person she can’t live without.
*** Due to mature situations, strong language and drug references, this is not intended for readers under 18. ***
The Way I See It
I’m going to start off with one word…Sweet. Yep I think that’s a good word to describe Fall into Forever. This story contains all of the “classic” characteristics of New Adult. I use the term “classic” lightly as this is a new genre…mayhaps I should say “faddish” lol! Jk I’m a huge supporter of NA and feel like it’s here to stay! Any who, College setting, check, broken girl meets broken boy, check, discovering true love, check, overcoming their demons, check and let us not forget the sexy scene, check. See? Check, check, check and check! I really enjoyed all of those checks and then some! The main characters Jon and Ivy felt very real and all of their friends fit right in! There were a couple of things that were thrown into to the book that didn’t receive any resolution but they weren’t major so it doesn’t really interfere with the overall story. The only reason why I noticed them is probably because I’m so anal about knowing what happens to everyone. I even want to know about the neighbor’s neighbor! (That’s Crazy right? Way I see it is if they’re important enough to make it in the story then I want to know what happened with that) I found myself saying “hey what happened with him?” and “I wonder what ever happened with that thing they talked about.” and “Did that one guy ever do what he promised he was going to?” Like I said no biggs but I’m a curious little kitty that pays attention, all and all I would say this was a cute and enjoyable read.
F-ound, Ivy has fought too hard to escape her past she cannot believe she is under the same roof as HIM.
A-lone, sure Ivy has made friends but no one knows the torment she carries all of the uncertainty that her past has created for her.
L-ost, seeing only one way out Ivy makes a dangerous decision, her rescue will come from the most unlikely of candidates.
L-esson, Jon knows dreams and aspirations are dangerous especially for someone like him. The pull he feels is starting to feel too heavy and he knows all too well what diving in the shallow end can do to a person.
I-llusion, what people see when they talk to Jon is what he wants them to see. Ivy’s soul permits her to look past his façade and see the real person underneath.
N-ervous, Ivy doesn’t know what it is about Jon but being around him gives her feelings she has never experienced.
T-ruth, respect and compassion things that Ivy values dearly and its these things that help her understand Jon deeper than anyone else.
O-nly, Jon knows he has charisma and girls fall all over themselves for him, but none of that matters because he is haunted by green eyes and a smile that lights up his heart.
F-inally, Ivy begins to trust Jon but the more she opens up the more dangerous things become for Jon.
O-pportunity, giving into what his heart wants will be the catalyst that will set things off for Jon. Ivy is too much and he is not enough.
R-egret, almost losing the person who completes you is like losing a part of your soul. Things have not been easy but dreams and rarely ever are. Jon realizes what he wants and will do what it takes to make things right.
E-ndangered, confronted and attacked a confession with rock Ivy’s world and nothing will ever be the same.
V-ile, Jon has made many mistakes in his past, he has never denied that but he will be damned if he lets this tormentor go unpunished.
E-lation, Ivy pursues the truth and the time has come for Jon to accept he is no longer alone. Together they will face a new and scary chapter in life.
R-emorse, forgiveness can only come from the heart. A long overdue conversation will teach Ivy she was not so alone after all. The time has come for everyone to move past all of the pain.
The ending was just right not too perfect but the main issues were resolved and covered. One thing I must say is I love it when authors start a chapter with a quote. I feel it sets the tone for what’s to come and gives the book that little something extra! Tip of the hat to you Ms. Hyland! Ivy and Jon were fun :0) I really enjoyed everyone’s banter and comradery with a dash of snark! So I’d say this is a good fit for a lazy Sunday.
My Fav’s
Jon
He is scrumptrallecent you know a mixture between scrumptious and excellent. The best part about him is he knows the affect he has on girls but because of his past it never goes to his head. He is kind and compassionate, protective and caring. He has lived his entire life with only one person ever taking notice. When he gets to know Ivy and he realizes she sees his true nature, it’s only a matter of time before he’s head over heels. Don’t get me wrong he does a couple of things that make him a bit douche y but he did it out of fear so I can kind of understand. He was so perfect for Ivy in other ways that I let it go too.
Ivy
Even though she was tormented she was brave and fought everyday to achieve normalcy and dare I say it? Happiness. Ives is kind and loving just the things Jon needed in his life. Even though Jon is a protector by nature don’t let Ivy fool ya her heart gives her a certain type of strength that cannot be measured. Ivy saw something no one else did in Jon and she fought tooth and nail to get him to see it also. She basically rocked, aside from her own flaws she was perfect!
