GoodReads Summary
Two girls. One Leo.
Identical twins, Maggie and Clara Ryder, both grew up with Leo Maddox, billionaire playboy, apparent alcoholic, and heir to his grandfather's world-famous Maddox hotel empire. Their roles were cemented long ago: Maggie, as his best friend and Clara as his childhood nemesis.
But when a simple twist of fate changes everything and both girls start to fall for the lean, mean, ridiculously sexy and seemingly spoiled Leo... which girl will win his heart?
Throw in a little mischief, drama, and one smoking-hot bartender and lines are sure to blur. But one thing's for certain, neither good-girl Maggie nor rebellious Clara will be satisfied until they each figure out where they belong.
*NEW ADULT ROMANCE. Recommended for 17+ due to sexual situations and adult language.(
The Way I See It
So totally NOT what I was expecting…BUT FLOORED by the Results!! ERMERGERSH!! He Belongs With Me was a fun and light super sexy read!! I Ass-u-me you've read the synopsis the same way I had…I know your intrigued and with GOOD reason because let me tell you…I wanted to read this book because I was interested in something different. Clara and Maggie provided that spark of freshness in my life! I was expecting lots of rivalry, snark, betrayal and perhaps a cat fight or two, I got NONE(okay some)of that. What I did find most prominent was misunderstandings, miscommunication, painful truths, lost opportunities and buckets and buckets of regret. Watching everyone find there way was AWESOME! I LOVED every character! Every.Single.One. even Sinclair! Okay especially Sinclair lol that guy understood Clara better than she was willing to understand herself. This is a stand alone but if Ms. Darlington wanted to continue these character’s stories I’d follow them off the grand canyon.
H-ire, Maggie seeks out the help of a stranger to show a sleaze ball how unaffected she is by him.
E-nemy, Clara tries to exact revenge for the wrongs committed but everything has its limits.
B-rawl, Leo sees right through Clara and as always calls her out on it as things begin to escalate she is shocked by their past standing right in front of everyone.
E-ncounter, after a disastrous night Leo offers Clara a ticket to get away for a few days. Confused by the giver and dying to see her friend she accepts.
L-eft, Maggie is at odds because of her feelings. Discovering the possibility of Clara and Leo has left a ton of bricks within her. Determined and following her heart Maggie goes to seek out answers.
O-pinions, Clara and Leo have never had trouble ungluing one and other nothing seems to have changed since their childhood.
N-ostalgia, letting go for one brief moment Clara is taken back to a time when she was little and scared, and on a mission, she found comfort surrounded by books with her little friend.
G-uided, by her heart and advice from a friend Maggie realizes she must fight for what belongs to her.
S-ecrets, promises were made in the past by all and everyone is keeping their confessions at bay.
W-ellington, the truth is out Maggie knows once and for all what a bucket of slime he is. Now if she could figure out what to do about her present dilemma.
I-ndecision, knowing she has the power to destroy her sister but never having seen Leo smile so much Maggie can’t bring herself to do it.
T-houghts, to many of them have gotten in the way lately. The one person with the power to crush her heart stands before her and Maggie refuses to waste any time.
H-aste, Clara had plans for a long time before Leo crashed into her heart. The last time was enough she has seen through the facade and now knows the truth.
M-easure, Dean left an impossible imprint when he was young now is the time to make up for the time lost.
E-scape, Dreams of faraway places kept the nightmare of life at bay. Who new that those places were poor substitutions of Leo his arms were better than any of those dreams.
Gah!!! I’m not gonna tell you what happens but I will say everything is as it should be! One thing I will mention that I was kind of sad about was the girls father. I really grew to love him but it felt like maybe something was missing from his life. Maybe a special lady? *wink wink* Lol as I said just now everything is as it should be. This was full of drama but it was fun fluffy read! There isn’t any great tragedy other than life and the stuff that comes with it. Don’t get me wrong I did cry…I wanted so much and so hard for Leo when he lays everything out on the line I was SHOCKED! He was amazing his confessions and his gift brought me to tears. The good Kind ;) So yea check this book out its making my favs for sure.
My Fav’s
Leo
Guarded and a bit of a jerky face but his heart shines through all of his pretenses and I was hooked straight away. He has always been a staple in the lives of the twins and will continue to do so. He is honest and never once misleading in any way. Leo knows what he wants, he knows its not going to be easy but without it everything else will become worthless.
Clara & Maggie
Honestly I thought I would like Maggie more than Clara but I was wrong. Don’t get me wrong I loved both of them one was guarded while the other was open and genuine but something about Clara had me all fist pumping the air. Throughout all of the drama and confusion these two never did anything to hurt each other and that made my heart smile. These two are perfect oddballs. When it comes down to it their family has always been close and will continue to do so.
My Rating
4.0 Doberman Kiss, Grassy Hair, Red Dress, Gibson Martini’s, Forgotten Date, Golf Cart, Concerned Nemesis, Angel Wings, Alligator Bar, Spilled Beer, Subway, Margaritas, Great Expectations, Pepper Spray, Hearts that never belonged to anyone else LOVE filled stars!!! If you want something FUN and ROMANTIC with light adventure and LOADS of drama then this one’s for you!!
About the Author
Sarah Darlington lives in the DC metro area, is married to her high school sweetheart, and currently spends her time chasing around a very active toddler. As a former flight attendant, she misses the days of pantyhose, galley gossip with good friends, and traveling to new places. In the future she'd like to return to that career, but, just as flying gets into your bones, so does writing. Whenever she gets a free moment these days, she writes.
