Summary:

The man behind the headlines…
When billionaire Lucas Carrington returns to his New York mansion, he never expects to find beautiful stranger Kate Whitley making herself at home. Invited by his aunt to stay, he soon discovers she's a woman in need. She's raising funds for her sick daughter, so he agrees to let her stay—temporarily!

Kate may not belong in Lucas's high-society world, but she sees there is more to this tycoon than the headlines suggest. Yet with so much at stake, can she trust herself and her heart with New York's most sought-after bachelor?

My Take on this Journey:
Safe in the Tycoon's Arms, by Jennifer Faye was a fun, exciting, steamy, and enjoyable read, which takes place in New York City.  The main character, Kate Whitley is almost homeless. She meets a lady who befriends her at the hospital, where her daughter, Molly, is at with a brain tumor, and her friend, Connie, tells her she has a place for her to stay. She says that the owner will be out of the country for a while so there is no problem.  Kate can't believe her luck, when she see's that the house is actually a mansion.  It looks as though no one has lived there for a long time.  Kate's daughter is on death's door and needs an expensive operation that Kate cannot afford.  She has to make a plan to save her child's life. Kate has no where to turn, is at her wits end, and is grateful for her friends kindness, though she really doesn't know much about her.

Kate is walking around in the mansion in her short pajamas when out of nowhere she see's a light on that she thought she shut off.  To her astonishment, there is a gorgeous man standing in his boxer's, and my oh my is he a sight to see!  She is taken aback, but at the same time scared that he is an intruder trying to squat, and he thinks that of her also.  After bantering back and forth, Kate realizes she's seen the billionaire on the cover of a magazine as, "the bachelor," Lucas Carrington.  Lucas realizes that his aunt has taken license to lend out his home without his permission.  Lucas is taken by this gorgeous woman with legs for miles, but isn't about to let her know that.  He has had his heart broken by his ex-wife, and isn't about to let another woman lie or break his heart again.

Lucas feels bad once he finds out what Kate is really facing, and helps her by letting her stay while they figure out a way to save her daughter by fund raising, each doing something for the other in return.  In the meantime, they find a safe spot with each other and fall into a romance that will leave the reader smiling. Kate's character was strong, sweet, loving, tender, and delightful.  She was a mother with a purpose and wasn't about to give up on the end result, no matter what the cost.  She had issues that are brought to the forefront and deals with them.  It took a lot for Lucas to realize that what he needed was right before him.  I found him very unpleasant at times, with avoidance tendencies, determined, willful, and always thinking he knew it all.  He had a lot of growing up to do, she had some surrendering to do, and as time goes by, along with a lot of twists and turns, they eventually find each other whole heartedly.

The baggage both characters carry throughout the novel is believable.  I found them both broken in their own ways.  I liked the novel and enjoyed the easy feel that Harlequin is famous for.  I would recommend this book for people who want a quick, easy read, that won't leave you crying your eyes out at the end.  This book is full of secrets, life lessons, new beginnings' and character building. The book had just enough steam to keep the reader happy, and an HEA ending.

I give, Safe in the Tycoon's Arms, by Jennifer Faye, 4 Delightful, Fun, Fussy, Sweet, Feel Good Stars!!!

  1. Wow RO!! Awesome review! I love how this couple only met by chance like this. It would be hard to get through this time on your own and I'm glad they were able to form a bond and work together!! I'll be adding this one to the TBR pile for sure!

  3. I read this a couple months ago and I really enjoyed it too. Lucas was such a grump at the beginning of the book, and a teddy bear by the end. Nice review, Ro!

  4. What I love the most about tycoon-ish heroes is when they aren't too blasé, and when they are ready to do everything possible (and sometimes impossible) to show the woman they love just how much they love them.
I enjoy it even more if the story has a 'rags-to-riches' feel to it :)
    Great review, Ro :)
    I hope you're having a great week.

  6. That they can make your dreams come true because of their money. I know sounds shallow in a way but it is a HEA moment for me, sorry.
