This is not your typical rock star romance. For one, the “rock star” is a rapper. And not just any rapper. Trace is the hottest ticket in the music industry right now, regardless of which definition of ‘hot’ you choose.
Taryn Starr is not the girl-next-door who unknowingly meets a celebrity. Known as “America’s Sweetheart,” the reigning country music princess and world-renowned superstar knows exactly who Trace is…or does she?
Their worlds collide when the musicians whose paths were never destined to cross are forced by their joint record label to collaborate on a song. The sparks fly and ignite a fire that blazes hotter with every minute they spend together—for better or worse. One thing’s for certain, the two media magnets can’t deny their explosive chemistry, but will life in the spotlight ultimately bring Trace and Taryn together or force them apart?

***This contemporary romance new adult novel is for mature audiences. The language alone would make a sailor blush (the guy’s a rapper, remember?) so 18+ only, please.***
Lindy's Thoughts
Collaboration was such a great story! It was very entertaining and easy reading. When I began reading, I was instantly hooked, and could not put my kindle down, until the very last page was read! I connected with both Taryn and Trace, who were extremely well developed and fleshed out characters! I love stories about musicians, and appreciated the fact that this story was completely unique from any other story that I have read before. I loved how both Ms. Lynn, and Ms. Lee delved so deep with Trace and Taryn. These characters really took on a life of there own, and I loved how they were flawed and real. I grew so attached to Trace and Taryn, and didn't want their story to ever come to an end.
Taryn appears to be a very sweet, and innocent country singer. Her mother runs her life, and doesn't take Taryn's best interests at heart when making business decisions. She's an opportunist, who uses her daughter as a means to live a posh lifestyle. However, Taryn has a secret that she guards very closely. She fears that her secret may come out one day. Trace puts on the facade of a typical rapper to his fans. Nobody knows the real him or his background, with the exception of his cousin, Dre. Taryn and Trace appear to be opposites. Taryn keeps to herself, doesn't party with her band members, and doesn't sleep around. Trace gets in to trouble frequently, sleeps around, and parties really hard. When Trace lands himself in hot water, and is front page news, his manager, Jay, and the record company executives come up with the idea for Trace to do a collaboration on a song with another artist. Since Taryn has a squeaky clean image, they decide that she would be the perfect artist for Trace to work with.
Taryn and Trace share a strong mutual attraction. The more they end up working on their collaboration together, the more that they find themselves falling for each other. However, with busy and conflicting concert schedules it is difficult to spend time with one another. Plus, they both know that the other person is not good for the "image," that they each portray to their fans. However, they both end up texting and calling one another daily, and develop strong feelings for one another. They find themselves sneaking around, and desperate to spend every possible spare moment with each other. As a reader, I loved following Taryn and Trace's relationship. They had so much passion for one another. The love scenes between these two were off the charts, smoking' hot! The emotional connection, and depth of their relationship was portrayed beautifully! The plot was entertaining, and there were plenty of ups and downs, as well as the revelation of secrets that kept the story exciting! I also loved many of the secondary characters. Taryn's Dad, her guitarist, Ryder, best friend, Regina, and Trace's bodyguard, Cal, were among my favorites! I am hopeful that Ms. Lynn and Ms. Lee with give us Ryder's story next. He was such a loyal, protective, and charismatic guy. I hope he finds his "happily ever after," and dumps Taryn's mom, as his manager! I also hope to get Regina's story! She was such a fun, loving, and loyal character, and I would love to read her story.

Mikki's Review
What happens when a panty melting rapper and a country star princess meet? An explosive Collaboration! From the first pages of this book, Taryn and Trace will have you cheering for them!
Trace is one of the biggest names in the music industry. People see him as the bad boy of music when in reality he's just a normal person dealing with a heartbreaking past. Taryn is a country singer and America’s sweetheart. Her mom controls every aspect of her life. The only thing she wants is to be able to control her own life and do things her way. When Taryn and Trace are brought together by their record label sparks fly instantly between them. They come from two different worlds, but share a strong connection right from the start. After they wrap-up their duet and film an extremely sexy video, they both go their separate ways to start their tours. After a few weeks of texting and phone calls, a friendship was born. Soon enough their friendship turns to more and they can’t deny that they have created a strong bond. When they see each other again their reunion is explosive. Their relationship is put to the test when the paparazzi and some secrets from the past come to haunt them. They will have ups and downs, but their bond is solid and they will fight side by side to overcome these obstacles and make their relationship work in this chaotic business.
Collaboration was fast-paced, the characters pulled me in from the start and the writing style was great. I love it when my connection with the main characters is made in the first few pages. Taryn and Trace have an amazing chemistry and their collaboration turned into a friendship and slowly exploded into a beautiful relationship. Living in the public eye is difficult and even if they are surrounded by family and friends that care for them, they are confronted by people who are looking for a way to cause trouble in their lives. Even if their worlds are drastically different, they both want the same things in life. They have found in each other a person that they can trust and love with no boundaries.
Taryn and Trace are an awesome couple! Their story felt real and I could perfectly see every scene playing in my head just like in a movie. Taryn is sweet and adorable, but she has a sexy strong character too. Trace is confident and cocky, but behind that tough image hides a tender teddy bear with a heart of gold *Swoon* Don’t even get me started on what these two create when they are in the same room ... Eeeeep !!! Every touch, kiss, look they exchange is electrifying ! I got a few *Fan Self* moments and not only are they hot together, but they complement each other perfectly. I love it when a story wraps-up with an amazing Epilogue. And, this book sure did have one ! I applaud both these authors for writing a great standalone novel. Don’t get me wrong, I love reading series. But, from time to time I like to get lost into a standalone that catches my attention from the start and does not let me go until I turn the last page. This book had a little extra something that I absolutely loved: Music links. I clicked on every single link and enjoyed the music just like they did :)
The supporting characters in this story are all great ! What an entertaining group of friends and family. I really hope that Gina, Taryn and Trace's friend, and Ryder, Taryn's guitarist, will each get their own book. The connection between Taryn and her dad was really beautiful and heartwarming compared to the cold relationship she had with her mom.
My Rating
I give, Collaboration, by Michelle Lynn & Nevaeh Lee 4 captivating, sensual, romantic, fantastic stars ! It was beautiful to see how two young people found the melody to each other’s hearts. I really hope these authors have future plans of working together again. I really enjoyed their work :)

Michelle Lynn
Michelle moved around the Midwest most of her life, transferring from
school to school before settling down in the outskirts of Chicago ten years
ago, where she now resides with her husband and two kids. She developed a love
of reading at a young age, which helped lay the foundation for her passion to
write. With the encouragement of her family, she finally sat down and wrote one
of the many stories that have been floating around in her head. When she isn’t
reading or writing, she can be found playing with her kids, talking to her mom
on the phone, or hanging out with her family and friends. But after chasing
around twin preschoolers all day, she always cherishes her relaxation time
after putting the kids to bed.
Nevaeh Lee
Nevaeh’s first exposure to writing began in a middle school creative
writing class. She was reprimanded for composing a politically incorrect story
and forced to re-write about a “safer” topic. Being the writing rebel that she
is, Nevaeh always likes to push the envelope a bit and never re-writes, unless her editor insists on it.
When she’s not writing, Nevaeh is a freelance book editor ;). And though she spends a good chunk of her time
reading, writing, and editing, she can also be found hanging out with her
family and taking road trips, exploring the area around wherever she happens to
be living at the time. Even though “home” will always be Texas, she has lived
in several different states and countries, but currently resides in the DC
metro area.

We'll have to see if we can't do something about that for you ;)
ReplyDeleteYou're Very Welcome! I can't wait to read the story you girls come up with next!

DeleteI'm so glad you girls enjoyed this one! I will definitely keep it in mind for the future! Like Teresa, I'm in a review book hole so I won't be able to get to it for a bit. I'm glad both of you were immediately engaged in the story- lately if I'm not pulled in right away, I find myself disinterested. :(
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean Jess! Are reviewing schedules are packed right now! Thanks for stopping by :)

DeleteOh I first saw this a few weeks back on Neveh's swoon post, I love romance stories with musician (which is ironic since I have very little musical talent lol). Opposites attached is always fun to read, and these two character sound like they couldn't be more different. So glad to hear you enjoyed it, I can't wait to read this one!
ReplyDeleteIt was such a great love story! I hope you get to read it! Thanks for stopping by Amy :)
