GR's Summary:
WELCOME TO THE CLUB
Eight years ago, Sophie gave her heart—and her virginity—to Zach Barrett on a night that couldn’t have been less romantic or more embarrassing. Zach’s step-brother, a steely-muscled, tattooed biker named Ruger, caught them in the act, getting a peep show of Sophie he’s never forgotten.
She may have lost her dignity that fateful night, but Sophie also gained something precious—her son Noah. Unfortunately, Zach’s a deadbeat dad, leaving Ruger to be Noah’s only male role model. When he discovers Sophie and his nephew living in near poverty, Ruger takes matters into his own hands—with the help of the Reapers Motorcycle Club—to give them a better life.
Living with outlaw bikers wasn’t Sophie’s plan for her son, but Ruger isn’t giving her a choice. He’ll be there for Noah, whether she wants him or not. But Sophie does want him, has always wanted him. Now she’ll learn that taking a biker to bed can get a girl dirty in every way…
Reaper's Motorcycle Club Series:
My Thoughts:
First, I want to say, if you enjoy biker romance novels, you should give Reaper's Legacy a shot. If you want to try one out, I highly recommend this one! I was in the middle of reading another book, when I got Reaper's Legacy for review. I was curious about the book, so I started to read a few pages. Before I knew it, I had finished the whole book! Reaper's Legacy instantly captured my interest, and then hooked me so hard, that I could not put it down. Ms. Wylde's world building skills are exceptional. She will completely take you in to the biker world where the Motorcycle Club has their own values, rules, laws, and ways of doing things. I found this world fascinating. The number one rule is that once you are sworn in to the club, you become "brothers" with everyone else in the club. This means you are agreeing to complete loyalty, respect, having each others "back," and even willing to die for your "brothers."
The Motorcycle Club has it's own way of dealing out justice. They don't involve law enforcement. In fact, these guys do not trust police officers. Club business is discussed privately in what they call "church." "Church" is what they call their club meetings. If a man has an "old lady," that means she is his property, no one else is allowed to touch her, and all brothers are meant to defend her with their lives. Being a biker's "old lady," is the highest form of respect for a woman in the M.C. world. On the other hand, the M.C. Bikers pass around women they call "sweet butt," which is a term used for the biker groupies that are promiscuous and get used by all the bikers. I found the Motorcycle World fascinating, and completely different from anything that I've ever been exposed to. Ms. Wylde did an excellent job of making the life of a M.C. member, and his "Old Lady," come to life.
Reaper's Legacy is about M.C. Club Member, Ruger, and his nephew's mother Sophie. Ruger's stepbrother, Zach, got Sophie pregnant when she was 17 years old. Zack was a horrible guy. He constantly cheated on Sophie behind her back, was very possessive, controlling, and abusive. Eventually, Sophie was able to get away from Zach with her precious little boy, Noah. Sophie's parents disowned her when she got pregnant with Noah, and she refused to abort him. Sophie and Ruger shared a special bond, because Ruger is the one that delivered Noah. Zach was a deadbeat father, who didn't pay child support, or have anything to do with his son. Ruger was like a surrogate father for Noah. He kept in touch, spent quality time with Noah, and would always check up on Sophie and Noah to make sure that they were alright.
Sophie and Ruger were very attracted to one another, and had a passionate relationship with one another. However, they chose not to act on it for Noah's sake. When Noah is put in danger, Ruger makes the decision to move Noah and Sophie into his home. Sophie doesn't like how controlling Ruger is and tries to refuse, but he doesn't let her. As Ruger and Sophie spend more time with one another, things start heating up between the two of them. However, Sophie doesn't like the Motorcycle Club, and doesn't want them around her son. She also lets Ruger know that if he wants to be with her, he can't be sleeping around with other women on the side. Ruger refuses to give up his club, or his independence, and repeatedly tells Sophie that he isn't a one woman type of guy. Ruger and Sophie come to a stalemate, and things get real interesting as the story becomes filled with undeniable attraction, intense passion, non-stop fast-paced action, crazy plot twists, and a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat!
Reaper's Legacy had the full package! We get two complex and fully developed main characters. The secondary characters are fascinating, and had me wanting to read more segments in this series. I loved Kimber, Marie, Dancer, Maggs, and Em. These girls were hilarious when they hung out together, drinking their margaritas, dancing, and telling stories. I really felt like I got to know the M.C. President, Picnic, as well as Horse, Painter, Deke, and others. I am intrigued by the Devil's Jacks, the Reapers MC enemy. I can't wait to read Em (Picnic's daughter), and Hunter's story (from the Devil's Jacks). I also think Painter (A Reaper Member) has a thing for Em, and can't wait to see how everything plays out! I can't believe Devil's Game doesn't come out until June 3, 2014! The wait is going to be pure torture!
My Rating:
I give Reaper's Legacy by Joanna Wylde, 4.5 Flamin' Hot, Sexy, Action-Packed, I couldn't get enough Stars! I'm so excited that I have discovered Ms. Wylde! I will be continuing this series, and if hot, bossy, and sexy alpha males are your thing, you need to read, Reaper's Legacy...now!!!
My Favorite Quotes:
"The man was like heroin--seductive, addictive, and a damned good way to wake up dead." (eARC, Loc. 336)
~Sophie
"You just admitted you're mine," he replied slowly. I've been wonderin' if I could take you--whether I should take you. I keep thinkin' about Noah and whether it's right for him, but now I get none of it matters, because you're mine already. You've been mine for a hell of a long time and I just didn't realize it." (eARC, Loc. 2137)
~Ruger
"Jesus, you fu*k with my head," he said roughly. "My cock gets hard just thinkin' about you. You're in my dreams every night. I wake up in the morning and all I think about is you in my house, you and Noah finally mine. My family.
It's even better than ridin' my bike. I'm crazy for you, Soph." (eARC, Loc. 2616)
~Ruger
"I loved this man. I loved how he held me, loved how he cared for my son, and loved how he always fixed whatever fu*ked up, horrible things went wrong in my life." (eARC, Loc. 4118)
