GR's Summary:
He never wanted to be a hero…until she needed him to be.
Strength…
It took Kennedy Moore years to put her life back together after Reese Spencer shattered it. But she did. Now, years later, strong and independent, she is in pursuit of a single dream—to dance with the Altman American Dance Theater. Unfortunately, Kennedy is learning that a girl from nowhere with no money and no contacts might never be able to reach her goal.
That is, until Reese reappears, offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that Kennedy just can’t refuse. In exchange for working on his yacht for a few short weeks, he’ll get her an audition with the famous dance troupe. All Kennedy has to do is keep her head down, work hard and resist Reese. That sounds easy enough, right?
Weakness…
Reese doesn’t want to make it easy for Kennedy. Seeing her again has started a fire in his blood—an unwelcome one. It took him years to forget about her before, so this time he has a plan. It’s simple: Get Kennedy on his yacht, seduce her, get her out of his system, move on with his life. That sounds easy enough, right?
But the one thing Reese didn’t plan for was Kennedy herself—a girl so strong yet so broken, she makes him want to rescue her, to take care of her. To save her. Even if he has to save her from himself.
Pretty Series:
My Review on All The Pretty Lies HERE
My Thoughts:
Are you looking for a hot, new, up and coming series? One that is fast-paced, full of suspense, secrets, and will make you swoon?!! Well, I am so excited to introduce you to the Pretty Series, by M. Leighton. This author can write and she has given me a strong case of the, "feels" with this series! The first installment, All the Pretty Lies, was about Hemi and Sloane. It was such an amazing start to the series, that I was a little concerned if Ms. Leighton would be able to write a story that was comparable or superior to such a superb first installment. Well, All the Pretty Poses, was just as phenomenal! These are two books that I highly recommend, and will be telling all of my reading friends about!
In all the Pretty Poses, we are given the dual perspectives of Reese, (Hemi's eldest brother) and Kennedy. Reese is a cocky, ambitious, and highly successful man. Women throw themselves at him wherever he goes. All he has to do is flash a little smile their way and they're his for the taking. Women are willing to take whatever Reese is willing to give them, and he isn't willing to give them much. He uses them to satiate his needs and then immediately moves on to the next one. He never hears the word, "no" and is completely confident in his ability to get his way. I must admit, Reese's arrogance, cockiness, and selfishness, really bothered me. I wanted a woman to tell him, "no" and make him work hard for her trust, respect, and friendship.
Enter Kennedy! She has had a very difficult life, has no family, and is just trying to pay the bills. She is a hard worker, and doesn't really have many friends. She had a horrible childhood, and got her heart broken when she was a teenager, after she fell in love with Reese. He abruptly left her without even saying goodbye. Therefore, she kept to herself, and threw herself in to her passion; dance, which she hoped to do one day professionally. Reese is very wealthy and owns numerous high-end exotic dance clubs. He visits each of his clubs about once a year to check on things, but for the most part they are run effortlessly by his hired help.
One night, when he takes Hemi, Sloan, and Sloane's brother, Sig, out to one of his clubs, he is shocked to see that the woman performing on his stage is Kennedy. She is drop dead gorgeous, seductive, sensual, and a beautiful dancer. Reese becomes aroused, and decides that he needs to have her in his bed. Guess what?!!! Kennedy tells him, "No!" I loved how strong Kennedy was. Her heart had been broken by him, but it was obvious that there was still something there between the two of them. Reese, offers Kennedy a job. If she will work on his yacht for the summer dancing, and doing odds and ends, he will get her an audition with the Altman American Dance Theater. This audition can make Kennedy's dream come true, so while she is hesitant to accept the job, she does, with the condition that she will be on the yacht in a strictly professional capacity. In other words, she will not fool around or sleep with Reese. However, Reese has other plans, and he's willing to put on the charm and pull out all of the stops to get Kennedy in his bed. However, he never counted on falling in love with her.
All the Pretty Poses was spectacular! It was fast paced, and I was trying to turn pages slower near the end, because I didn't want to say goodbye to Reese and Kennedy. Their story was beautiful, and there were moments where my heart broke. The chemistry was extremely intense and the flirty banter as these too characters traded wits was fun and entertaining. The emotional connection that Reese and Kennedy developed added a layer of depth to the story, and made the romantic in me jump for joy. The intimate scenes between these two characters were explicit, sensual, sexy, and swoon worthy. Reese grew immensely as a character. Kennedy made him want to be a better person, and I could see that he was falling in love with her when he started breaking away from his old selfish patterns.
The plot of the story held my attention the whole way through. There weren't any lulls, and Ms. Leighton was sure to constantly keep things interesting with plot twists that contained antagonists, and secrets that even the reader isn't aware of until the end of the story. We get a little bit of Hemi, Sloane, and Sig (Sloane's brother) as they are on the yacht on their way to Hawaii for a vacation, and I loved seeing how in love and happy these two were. I'm hoping we eventually get Sig's story as well. Boy is he a smooth talker, and a charmer!
I give, All the Pretty Poses, by M. Leighton, 5 Spicy, Seductive, and Sweet Stars!!! Add this series to your e-reader now! You'll thank me later!!!

Tour Host:
I haven't started this series yet, but your review was good. I will be adding this one to my TBR pile.
ReplyDeleteIt's such an awesome series Angela. You will love it!!!
DeleteWow, that's some high praise for this series! I only heard of these books recently, but they seem to be getting great reviews. Reese sounds like a swoon worthy character, with his smooth talking charm. And I like that he grows throughout the book and becomes a better man. This series sounds fabulous and with a description like; explicit, sensual, sexy - I am definitely going to be checking out this series soon! :)
ReplyDeleteYay! This series is fabulous :)
DeleteWell I do love suspense, a fast pace AND swooning! I don't think I've heard of these books before though I have heard of the author. I will have to check them out! Great review. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Sara!!!
DeleteI normally steer clear of reviews bc I can't help but take them to heart. I learned long ago that it's better to just let hubby fill me in. But when Kelly posted that it was 5 stars, I had to come read and can I tell you that I am just elated! This totally made my day! Thank you for reading and reviewing, and even more for "getting" these characters and this story. I'm full of one big happy *sigh* <3
ReplyDeleteThat's Wonderful! I felt the same way when I finished All the Pretty Poses! You are very welcome :)
DeleteWHOA. Lindy. SOLD! I've been wanting to read the first book for awhile now, but just haven't gotten to it! I definitely need to snag both of these books! I love that Kennedy sounds like a kick ass character and Reese sounds downright SWOONY! LOL.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Jessica! I hope you end up reading them!
DeleteLindy you sold this, I actually have book one since I have enjoyed this author before. I love books that make you feel and I am really excited that each book is a different couple.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kim! It's a great series :)
DeleteFantastic review! I read this one recently and I absolutely loved it! M. Leighton never ever disappoints me! She creates the best swoony guys and her chicks are so strong! I didn't know if anyone could live up to Hemi and Sloane, but Reese and Kennedy sure do give them a run for their money!
