GR's Summary:
The Billionaire Boys Club is a secret society of six men who have vowed success--at any cost. Not all of them are old money, but all of them are incredibly wealthy. They're just not always as successful when it comes to love...
Audrey Petty's always been the responsible one. The good twin. Successful, dependable, and trustworthy--that's Audrey. She'd be the perfect girlfriend for her childhood crush, billionaire Cade Archer...except that she's pretty sure she's not even on his radar. But when fate (and her chaotic twin) come together, Audrey finds out that she'll be spending the next month with Cade at his remote cabin retreat. It's a dream come true...
Until she meets her worst nightmare.
Billionaire playboy Reese Durham is used to seducing women to get what he wants. But when stiff, too-proper Audrey bursts into the private mountain lodge and scares his companion out the door, it's time for a little revenge. It's clear that Audrey's in love with his buddy, Cade...and it's clear to Reese that blackmailing Audrey with this information can get her to agree to just about anything. Like furtive kisses in the dark, or a secret rendezvous in the woods. Audrey may think she knows what she wants, but Reese is determined to show her what she needs.
And as Reese discovers the volatile minx behind the buttoned-up exterior, he starts to think maybe she's just what he needs, too.
Billionaire Boys Club Series:
My Thoughts:
The Wrong Billionaire's Bed by Jessica Clare was a fast-pace, toe curling, fun, light, and steamy romance. It was just what I was in the mood for; a story that would sweep me away, make me smile, chuckle, and swoon! This story was told from the dual perspectives of Audrey, and Reese. It starts out with a sweet and endearing scene from Audrey and her identical twin, Daphne's 13th birthday, and their good friend, 15 year old Cade. This scene gave me insight in to the fact that Audrey was quiet, shy, and strived to be "the good twin." Whereas, Daphne enjoyed being the center of attention, acting on impulse, and doing whatever she wanted, without thought to others feelings. Cade was a lot like Audrey; quiet, serious, and responsible. He had a very close knit, caring, sweet, and loyal relationship with the twins.
The story then flashes in to the future, and everyone is now grown up. Daphne is a successful, famous, and wealthy star who has a major drug and alcohol addiction. She graces the front pages of the tabloids consistently. Audrey is a workaholic, ultra conservative, and doesn't have much of a social life. Daphne ends up asking Audrey to help her overcome her addiction, by going on vacation with her, and Audrey quickly agrees. Audrey is always there for her sister, and wants to help her to be happy and healthy. So, while Audrey thinks that they are heading to a lake house for vacation, Daphne ends up taking them to Cade's Cabin.
At first Audrey is overjoyed. She gets to help her sister, and reconnect with her long time crush, the man and friend that she's been in love with for years. However, when Audrey walks in to the cabin, she meets an unexpected guest, Cade's good friend, and billionaire playboy, Reese, who happens to be naked in the hot tub with with a rich, snotty, air headed, heiress. The heiress stomps out thinking that Reese is cheating on her with Audrey, and Reese is angry. He digs his heals in, and refuses to leave the cabin. He thinks Audrey is rigid, and has a stick up her butt. Plus, she ruined his plans with the heiress. So he decides that he's going to get under her skin, and irritate her, because it's fun getting a rise out of her. Reese quickly realizes that Audrey has a crush on Cade, by the way she acts and blushes around him. So Reese uses this information to blackmail Audrey in to letting him have a kiss or he will tell Cade about her feelings for him. Audrey agrees to the kiss, and fireworks quickly abound. Reese realizes that there's a lot more to prim, proper, and ultra conservative little Audrey, when she gets him a little, "hot under the collar," and Audrey quickly realizes that even though she's "in love" with Cade, Reese is the one that gives her butterflies.
This story was incredibly fun, and sexy. Reese and Audrey had so much passion, and really hot "angry sex." These two loved pushing each others buttons, and the more they argued, the more they turned each other on. Reese brought out a freer, wilder side in Audrey, and I enjoyed seeing her loosen up, let her hair down, and live in the moment. Plus, I loved how Audrey had curves, and wasn't the typical rail thin, gorgeous, and perfectly put together woman that Reese usually went for, and yet she was the one that he couldn't get enough of. This was such a nice change of pace from the romances that I usually read, and I pictured Audrey more like the average woman. She was an authentic, and relatable character. Reese enjoyed finding a woman that challenged him, had a mind of her own, and stood toe to toe with him. They really were a perfect match. The book ended exactly as I would have wanted it to, and I was left very satisfied with this great story!
My Rating:
I give The Wrong Billionaire's Bed by Jessica Clare 4 Stars filled with fun, banter, humor, passion blossoming, and love unexpected! This was such a great, fast-paced, love story. I read it in record time, and was sad to see it come to an end. Now, I plan on going back and reading the first two books in the series. You can read each of these books as a stand alone story, but all of the guys in the series are good friends, and are part of a secret society of attractive, billionaire businessmen. I highly recommend this story if you are in the mood for a fun, fast paced, humorous, non-angsty read! Fans of J. Lynn, and Monica Murphy will enjoy, The Wrong Billionaire's Bed!
My Favorite Quotes:
"His hand on her back was like a brand against her skin, her body acutely aware of that small, polite touch. (eARC, Loc. 1646)

"She did feel sexy in his arms. Like her curves were an incredible turn on to him instead of a turn off. Like she wasn't the plain, boring, Petty sister. She was uninhibited and delicious and just for him. And she loved it." (eARC, Loc. 2273)

DeleteThis sounds like a great book!! I absolutely adore the "fine line between love and hate" trope, so the premise of Audrey and Reese pushing each other's buttons and having hot, angry sex is right up my alley!! I'll definitely have to check it out. :)
ReplyDeleteThis was such a fun story! I think you'll enjoy it :)
DeleteGlad you enjoyed it! I do feel that these type of books tend to have titles that give away most of the story so it's always a joy when you find one that stands out. :)
ReplyDeleteThis story was predictable, but the characters made it really fun, and it was a good steamy , non-angsty read. Thanks for stopping by :)
