Death comes in Armani. Salvation comes in leather.
Principessa to the Mancuso crime family, Alexandra knows a thing or two about living outside the bounds of the law. Suffocated by the future her father has laid out for her, she makes a choice she can't take back, changing the entire trajectory of her life.
Thrust into the dark and dangerous world of the Forsaken Motorcycle Club for her own protection, Alex finds herself faced with the last thing she needs right now: the man of her dreams. He’s sex in leather, the devil incarnate, and one hell of a kisser. But he’s also off-limits. Ryan Stone can be her friend, but he’s forbidden to be her lover.
Third-generation Forsaken, Ryan knows nothing other than life on two wheels, and he wouldn’t have it any other way. He enjoys the many privileges that come with the patch, and the only laws he recognizes are the ones set-forth by his club. That is, until who he wants more than anything isn’t allowed on the back of his bike —or in his bed. Balancing his desire for her body, and need to keep her safe, Ryan tries to keep Alex at a distance. Finally having made a choice for herself, she’s done hearing the word “no” and will push boundaries even Ryan himself doesn’t dare cross.
Love is never more tempting than when it’s forbidden.

My Review:
Ride by JC Emery was an exciting and intriguing read. It’s my first time reading something from this author and I enjoyed it very much. Her writing style is very easy to read and the plot of this story was developed enough that it kept me on the edge of my seat for the most parts. I did find that it took me a while to get comfortable with the main characters. It was easier with Alexandra than it was with Ryan. I can honestly say that I still can’t find that special spot for Ryan in my heart. He was such a JERK!!! I understand why he was acting like that towards Alexandra, but he still did nothing to win me over.
Alexandra Mancuso is mobster royalty. Daughter of the powerful mobster boss, Carlos Mancuso, she is stuck in a world she did not chose, but has to live in. Since her young age Alexandra wishes for a different kind of life. A life where she can study, go out with her friends, do usual things a 19 year old would do and especially get a say in who she will marry. But this is not her destiny, she’s never went against any of it, until one day she becomes the enemy. Secrets have always been present in her life, but what she discovers after her betrayal turns her world upside down. When an unexpected person comes and saves her from the fate that awaits her, Alexandra enters the world of the FORSAKEN Motorcycle Club. There she meets Ryan, the president’s son, which is also the one person she needs to stay away from. The more time she spends around Ryan the more her attraction to him is undeniable.
Okie dokie, where do I start? Principessa Alexandra Mancuso. Like I said before, it did take me a while to warm up to the main characters, but it was easier with Alexandra than it was with anybody else. I started really connecting with her once she leaves her house. I think we get to see who the real Alexandra Mancuso is and it’s far from the perfect princess her father wanted her to be. Ryan … Ryan … Ryan … I usually fall hard for the bad boys, but Ryan did not get a place in my heart until the very end of the story. It took him forever to realise what Alexandra means to him and even if i’m done reading this story, I still have unanswered questions about how he acted with her. I really liked that we got his POV towards the end of the book. I have to be honest and say that it’s actually what made me understand him a little bit more. If that POV would not have been part of the story, I’m not sure that I would have ended up liking him in the end.
The next book in the series is about Duke, Ryan’s best friend. The only person I think about at this moment for Duke’s love interest is Nic. I’m not sure if Nic is going to be the girl for Duke, but I’m secretly hoping that he makes a play for Alexandra. Even if Duke did his fair share of bad things, I felt that he connected with Alexandra. This would be an unexpected twist in Alexandra and Ryan’s relationship and in this series, but that’s just my little imagination running free ;)
My Rating:
I give Ride by JC Emery 3.5 intriguing and exciting stars! I did enjoy this story and I will keep on reading this series and any other books that JC Emery will write. I loved all the twist and turns that the author included and I have to admit that these twist and turns are what kept me turning the pages. I can’t wait to see what she has up her sleeves for Duke’s story.
About the Author:
As a child, JC was fascinated by things that went bump in the night. As they say, some things never change. Now, as an adult, she divides her time between the sexy law men, mythical creatures, and kick-ass heroines that live inside her head and pursuing her bachelor's degree in English. JC is a San Francisco Bay Area native, but has also called both Texas and Louisiana home. These days she rocks her flip flops year round in Northern California and can't imagine a climate more beautiful.
JC writes adult, new adult, and young adult fiction. She dabbles in many different genres including science fiction, horror, chick lit, and murder mysteries, yet she is most enthralled by supernatural stories-- and everything has at least a splash of romance.
