Getting Rowdy by Lori Foster was a highly entertaining and enjoyable read.  It was full of mystery, suspense, action, romance, and sexiness.  This was my first Lori Foster book, and let me tell you, I'm ready to read more.  This book was fast paced, and before I knew it, I was swept away by the story, and didn't want to put it down.  I enjoyed getting to know the main characters, Rowdy Yates, and Avery Mullins.  I also enjoyed getting to know the secondary characters, and cannot wait to read each of their stories!

Rowdy Yates came from a background that included abusive alcoholic parents, poverty, and living on the streets.  This taught him what he had to do to survive.  He had a younger sister, Pepper Yates, and was her protector since they were children.  As an adult, he never settled down in one place, and was always on the move.  Then, Pepper fell in love with Detective Logan Risk, got married, and was safe from harm.  So, Rowdy bought a bar that had once been used for illegal activities, and fixed it up.  He didn't believe in having attachments, so he would sleep with woman once, and he was done with them.  

Avery Mullins was on the run, and hiding from someone, and at every corner danger lurked.  She decided to settle in a poverty stricken area, where she believed no one would look for her.  She got a job as a bartender at Rowdy's bar.  She put in the work to help Rowdy fix up the bar, and even helped him name it, "Getting Rowdy."  Avery loved her job, and helped Rowdy manage the bar.  Rowdy was highly attracted to Avery and consistently asked her out.  Avery told him "no" every time he asked, because she didn't want to be just another one night stand.  However, the more time Avery and Rowdy spent together, the more their friendship grew, the more they respected and admired one another, and the more they wanted the other person in their lives as more than friends.  Then, circumstances pushed Avery and Rowdy together, and things between them really started to heat up.

Getting Rowdy had a great foundation for romance.  Rowdy and Avery worked together, established a solid friendship, and really got to know each other.  The romance with them progressed realistically, and the sexual tension between the two main characters was off the charts!  I love how Ms. Foster added in the mystery, suspense, and danger of a crazy stalker that was after Avery.  It added to the excitement of the story, and I loved trying to guess who the bad guy was.  I fell in love with the main characters.  Rowdy was every woman's fantasy.  He was gorgeous, in great physical condition, charming, flirty, and such a hard worker.  However, what really made me fall in love with his character was his personal code of ethics.  He was a protector at heart, and defended those that could not protect themselves.  He had no tolerance for abuse, and he was the type of person to stand up for a stranger.  Avery was such a sweet, shy, caring, and compassionate woman.  I really respected her actions.  She learned to be strong and independent by living on her own.  Together, Avery and Rowdy complimented one another.  They were a great couple, and I loved their story.

My Rating:

I Give Getting Rowdy by Lori Foster 4 Thrilling, Suspenseful, Swoon-Worthy, and Sexy Stars!  I loved getting to know the cast of characters and look forward to reading Logan and Pepper's story, and Reese (Detective Logan's partner) and Alice's story!  I'm also hoping that Dash (Detective Logan's brother) get's his own story.  However, the story I'm hoping for the most is Cannon Coulter's.  Whew, this character was hot, training to be a professional fighter, and willing to help anyone in need.  As you can see, not only did I get attached to the main characters, but the secondary characters as well!  For a great Romantic Suspense, read Getting Rowdy by Lori Foster, and be sure to check out the Love Undercover Series!
