Summary:
Ever since super star, Arial Oakley, could remember, she's been in love with her hunky co-star Bryce Valentine. The only problem: Bryce has been in a relationship with another ac-tress for quite some time. Not wanting to be “the other woman”, Arial never pursued any of her feelings for him despite how well they connected.
When Bryce suddenly becomes single, both of their worlds are flipped upside down. To help him nurse his aching heart, Arial invites him back home to her family farm for some much needed peace and quiet from the paparazzi.
What neither of them expects is to fall in love: with the calm, with the country, with each other. But how much of it is real, and how much of it is a means to escape a broken heart?
My Review:
A Slow Burning Fire by J.F. Jenkins was a quick romantic read. I love it when best friends fall in love! These stories just steal my heart. I loved the blurb for this book and I had a few expectations going into it. Romance ... Check! Hot Best friend ... Check! The only thing that was missing for me was the chemistry between Arial and Bryce and my connection to Arial. It was there, but not strong enough for me. The book is writen in both POV's and I really liked that. The story was predictable, but I still enjoyed it.
Arial has been in love with her best friend, Bryce, for a few years. When he's single again, she hopes that she can make him see with time that they could become a couple. On his side, Bryce sees Arial under a new light.
Arial was very hard to connect with. Her insecurity got a bit on my nerves. I wanted her to step into her ''Work'' shoes and apply what she did onscreen to her own life. She overreacted in a lot of situations with Bryce and her family. She did eventually clear up all her emotions, but I was left wanting more from her. What I liked about her is that she respected herself and her best friend and kept her feelings to herself when he was in a relationship.
Bryce had my attention from the beginning. Even if he was heartbroken, once his emotions were settled, he knew what he wanted. I loved the way he acted around Arial and how he treated her. A real GENTLEMAN!
Arial and Bryce's romance was slow building. Even if they shared onscreen kisses before, they only get to share their first REAL kiss late in the book. Both of them took time to cross that line between friendship and love. The word that could describe their romance the best would be SWEET.
My Rating:
I give A Slow Burning Fire by J.F. Jenkins 3 sweet and romantic stars!
