GR's Summary:
If you believe your life is the sum total of your choices, what do you do when things just don’t add up? You are about to find out. It won’t be pretty. It won’t be dull. And surely, it won’t be safe. In fact, making just one wrong choice could put evil at your bedside watching you sleep.
And so it is with Kate Simmons, a young woman who, by choosing to regain her life, actually puts it at risk by the very choices she makes. After unimaginable heartbreak stops her world on a dime, Kate falls into a three-year blackness of self blame that brings her to the edge of life, itself. As time finally brings light back through tiny cracks of renewed desire, Kate moves out of the prison she made for herself in her mother’s home to find a new reality, rooming with her best girlfriend, Charlie.
Yet, to be free is to be vulnerable, and Kate’s choices more than ever mark a splattered line between being happy and being dead.
Care to choose? Here’s your menu:
A strangely alluring building manager so possessed with wanting you for his own, he’ll bury more than the fact he has a girlfriend; a buff college student for whom you are clearly hot, as are all the other girls on campus; a pushy lawyer who is as handsome as he is intoxicated with conquest, who doesn’t take no for an answer, who gets what he wants — always.
Sometimes, it’s whom you choose. Sometimes, it’s who chooses you. If you’re Kate, it’s both, and it puts you on a perilous road where good looks and humor are the thin masks of jealous delusion and utter violence.
You’re in trouble when the sum total of your choices is written in blood red.
My Take on this Journey:
Fallen for You, by Carlie Sexton is a dynamic debut novel that is original, and clearly full of twists, turns, angst, danger, fright, intrigue, humor, shock, suspense, and steamy romance! Kate Simmons has been on a one way collision course with fate for a long time. She has been living out her dreadful, all consuming life, with heartache eating her alive, for about 3 years, living with her mother. They have their issues, Kate has been trying to deal with her inner turmoil and guilt over the tragic death of someone close to her. She is a college student, who finally decides to try to put her life back together, and reinvent it, with the help of her best friend, Charlie Andrews. The two of them decide to become roommates, find the perfect apartment, and go back to college.
Kate starts classes up at San Diego State University, and runs into Mark Baxter, a gorgeous, swoon worthy hunk, with beautiful, mind blowing green eyes. Kate thinks he is a gigolo, because there are always girls all around him, even though he claims he only has eyes for her. She also meets Neil Statton, who is also great looking. They have a lot in common. He is very persistent guy, doesn't take "NO" for an answer, and he always gets what he wants at any cost. Then, there is the manager of her apartments, who is also her neighbor, Roger Wilkins, who is nice to look at, says and does all the right things, but makes your skin crawl for one reason or another. He is obsessive about Kate, and always conveniently shows up waiting around every corner at the right moment! AGH!!!
Kate and Charlie don't realize that their lives are in danger, literally, by one of these men. One of them is a crazed stalker. Kate believes that if a person makes the right choices in life, that will decide the outcome, good or bad. That is until something really bad happens to her. Kate is a bit naive. There is a lot of edge of your seat suspense, steamy romance, intrigue and drama in this story. The novel began at a fair pace, but once everything was in place, it just flew by. I couldn't put it down. There was humor at times, and I was scared to death at other times. Ms. Sexton has created a wonderfully scary thrill ride, that the reader will not soon forget. The novel leaves questions unanswered for the reader, and that leads us to the second book in the series, Taken by You. Mark is a real sweet talker, and just the essence of him will melt in your mouth at times. He always knows the right words to say, but can he be trusted? Neil is forward, yet acts at times gentlemanly, but watch out, cause he can change on a dime if he doesn't get what he wants! Then, there is the all too available, obsessively wacko, goody two shoes looking manager, that will give the reader the creeps. The friendly, "neighbor next door" that wants to know all your business, asks a lot of inappropriate questions, and makes Kate uncomfortable. Ms. Sexton has written a creative, one of a kind, diabolical, excellent novel that will not be predictable. This was a really freaky, mind blowing novel, that will knock your socks off! If a, "Who done it" is your thing, you are going to love this thrill of a ride!!!
I give, Fallen For You, By Carlie Sexton 5 Dramatic, Exhaustingly Terrifying, Steam-Filled, Mind Blowing Stars!!!
