ARC for Review
Summer Solstice is here. Let the games begin.
Nothing but lies (some of them her own) and deceit have brought Chloe to Olympus for the Solstice Olympic Games. As the Oracle and the special guest of the King of Myth, Chloe becomes immersed in a life of unfathomable luxury, taunting history, and overwhelming excitement. Though scheming and untrustworthy, the gods remain on their best behavior as the tension and anticipation builds around the outcome of the Quest of the Twelve Labors, the deadliest competition of the Games. All seems well on the celestial front...until athletes start turning up dead and a philosopher missing for months returns with a most terrifying story...
But that’s not all.
As Strafford confronts his troubled past and more is learned about the Great Unknown Prophecy, Chloe grows close to another, setting off a chain of events that will bring her face-to-face with a truth that will rock both of her worlds to their core.
And it’ll all happen before Solstice’s end...
The Way I See It
Wow! What a roller coaster! This book was amazing! Ms Jones does an amazing job of creating a world of myth and legend! This story isn’t for the faint of heart! Not a simple quick read by any means. The story of Chloe is one full of secrets, lies, betrayals, great love and incredible loss. I truly enjoyed every aspect. The story was seamless and I was completely engaged and immersed throughout! This whole series has been incredible and I’m dying to find out more! I gotta have more like ASAP!
P-romise, bound by honor, Theseus will do what it takes to keep his charge safe.
R-egret, surrounded by pain and remorse Chloe cant help but feel guilty for her most recent loss.
O-pportunity, in order to prove his worth to Chloe, Strafford will regain his honor and claim his prize.
P-rovince, a summons to a place that was once forbidden to her. Chloe finds herself surrounded by Gods.
H-ero’s, the Solstice where demigods prove their valor and bravery, no task is too daunting when honor is at stake.
E-nchanting, revered by all Chloe’s beauty is amplified by the pureness of her heart. Myth is in peril and Chloe has vowed to save it.
C-hoice, never has a decision been more clear to Stafford. He knows whom he must elect to win the quest of the gods.
Y-earning, consumed by love. It will take great will power to fight the urges that clouds these two young lovers better judgement.
O-pponent, there are others that seek to take Strafford’s glory. Hector and Strafford will not allow this.
F-ierce, though young Benjy holds great power, he will restore his brotherhood to its former strength.
S-ouls, Chloe’s mind hold the most powerful beings ever known to all of Myth.
O-bstacles, there are those who seek to murder Chloe and the gods will continue to interfere, no matter the cost.
L-ost, without one and other Chloe and Strafford would break. Their hearts belong to each other.
S-eer, tired of being left in the dark, Chloe will search for the answers on her own.
T-heo, an enemy turned friend he will try to prove his loyalty to her. The fates had treacherous plans for these two.
I-vy, wanting Strafford he is placed in a compromising situation. Ivy doesn’t know how to back off or give up.
C-ircumstances, so many crippling revelations. It seems that everyone conspires against the Pythia.
E-nemy, a person Chloe truly trusts breaks her heart in an unimaginable way.
S-urviving, a cold realization strikes Strafford like a bolder. Living is what matters. Being with Chloe is the only way he can live.
E-ruption, truths spill out what everyone once knew no longer exists.
N-ew Kingdom where an old king reigns, a war has started and there is nothing anyone can do to stop it.
D-reams, transformed no longer the person she once knew Strafford will follow Chloe. Where ever she goes her champion will forever be by her side.
As we have always heard gods are sneaky the same holds true in Ms. Jones books. You will guess and guess and guess wrong every time. Just when you think you’ve figured out someones game, you find out you were wrong. Its absolutely perfect because its never too much Ms. Jones has figured out a way to make it very intriguing and entertaining. The moment of the reveal is not like “ha ha got ya”! Its more like “Oh, you didn’t know? This was the plan all along.” Brilliant! This is an urban fantasy that I highly, highly recommend. The gods and their personalities are perfect!
My Fav’s
Chloe
Cue the Pythia! Ahem can you say “coming into her own” FINALLY! This is it, something happens whether she starts to fully accept who she is or she grows stronger or has some epiphanies I.Dont.Know. What I do know is THIS GIRL? Yeah, she kicks serious butt! Just the way I like my females to do!! She knows what she wants and she’s going to go after it.
Strafford
Okay I am 100% team Strafford but he’s so jerky sometimes! In book 3 he starts to see that and I think he makes good progress on letting go. As you and I both know we CANT hold on to hate or pain because it will consume you! Lion heart? What?! Yeah, for FLIPPIN sure!! OMG there was never a more perfect candidate! Straff kicks serious butt! He loves his family(Chloe included) and he will see to it that no harm befalls them.
My Wish
Theo has been much a pawn in all of this as the next guy. I believe his love is genuine. I want him to do something amazing for Chloe and I want her to give him a part of her heart. As a friend, my heart brakes for this prince. I love him and I want to see him find some happiness.
My Rating
4.5 Chimera, Thetans Premier, Titanian, Kismet, Olympic Games, rhombus of Valiance, Arke, Chaos promise, Mothers power Filled Stars!! If you enjoy Greek Mythology you will LOVE the Oracle of Delphi series! I am a HUGE fan of all these amazing characters I know you will be too!!
We want to welcome the very talented
Diantha Jones
to A Bookish Escape, and wish her much success in her future endeavors. We are so excited to read her upcoming work, and are are huge fans of her Oracle of Delphi series.
We wanted to know what her Top Five gods/goddesses where and why.
Here go:
5. Dionysus–Every time I picture the god of Wine, I smile. He's drunk, for one, and having the best time of his life. Sometimes he's crowd surfing and doesn't spill a drop of his wine. Other times he's rocking out in the DJ booth, so hard, they eventually kick him out. Gotta love him.
4. Aphrodite–How could you not heart the goddess of Love? Men fall at her feet and willingly bend to her will. Married or not, she loves who she wants and doesn't think twice about it. She's kind of trashy, but who cares? She's a freaking goddess.
3. Hades–The god of the Underworld has always been portrayed as the bad guy. But honestly, who is worse? Him or Zeus? My vote is for the latter. He was tricked into becoming the lord of the Underworld and throughout the myths who has reeked more havoc on the world than anyone? Again, Zeus. They need to stop hating on my man Hades, for real.
2. Cupid/Eros–First of all, the love story of Cupid and Psyche is one of my fave myths. So of course, Cupid would be one of my fave gods. I love how there are a few different stories about how he came to exist (as is the same with Aphrodite), which also intrigues me. When I picture him, I don't see some kid in a diaper. I see major hotness with a side order of mischief. *wiggles eyebrows* Just my type.
1. Apollo–I think the god of Sun is the most amazing deity from the myths and that's why he is such a major character in my Oracle of Delphi series. I love every aspect of him. His attributes (especially prophecy, duh), his birth, his twin status, and his most awesome chariot. He's another god on my Sexy Celestials list as the myths portray him as handsome and so do I lol.
Amazing answers right?
Thank you so much for your time Ms. Jones
