ARC for Review
Dangerous to be together. Painful to be apart.Savannah Colbert knows she broke up with Tristan Coleman for the right reasons. Most of all, to keep from killing him with her new vampire abilities. But try telling her heart. Now, lost in a sea of hostile Clann faces, Sav tries to come to terms with what she's becoming and what that means for her future. And that someone is doing their best to bully her into making a terrible mistake.
Tristan can't believe Sav won't even talk to him. If being apart is her decision, fine. Just don't expect him to honor it. But even as he prepares to fight for the girl he loves, forces beyond their control take them both in directions neither could have foreseen or prepared for.
A reckoning is coming and not everyone will survive.
The Way I See It
Boy, oh boy, am I glad I kept reading this series!! All of my concerns were addressed and I didn’t have to defend Savannah so much. The character development was fantastic. As usual Ms. Darnell captures your attention and maintains it seamlessly through out the entire book...Seriously this little gem starts off with a BOOM and I never fell into a lull! Amazing! Entertaining! Go VAMPS!
C-hoice, breaking all the rules comes to a head. Savannah will be forced to chose being with the one she loves OR keeping all of her loved ones safe.
O-bligations, to the Clann and to his family Tristan’s father will call a meeting and put an innocent woman through unmeasurable pain and her countenance is unmistakable.
V-iolent, an old friend becomes an enemy. He will do whatever it takes to make Savannah pay for who she is...As crazy as this sounds he will push both Tristan and Savannah.
E-mbraced, the relationship Savannah, though fragile and so lost, turns out to be her new rock and foundation. Ensuring her safety and happiness.
T-ruth, so much pain and loss hits Tristan. Everyone will realize the deception of one vampire. Will it be in time to stop further blood shed?
All of the characters show us more of themselves and we learn more about the Clann and the Clann’s powers. I’m still a bit sad about Savannah’s parents but I LOVE her Dad. During Crave he came across as a jerk and callous but during Covet we understand and learn why he does the things he does. Michael Sav’s Dad still Loves Joan Sav’s mom but their love is an impossible one. Much like Tristan’s and Sav’s is. OH.BALLS. Talk about an ENDING!! It wasn’t a “Cliffhanger” but it kinda was...It will leave you with an exhilarating sensation of “need” a NEED to know WTF happens next! Good News! The next book comes out soon so you won’t have to wait long.
My Fav’s
Tristan
He is a bit older still hunky and determined to fight for his love...Savannah after so many forces pull them apart he never truly abandons her. When things get tense for Savannah, Tristan comes to her rescue. We learn that they are fundamentally connected to the core. Tristan isn’t perfect but he stays true to the love that he has for Savannah.
Savannah
ABOUT TIME SISTER!! Sav COMPLETELY Turns her SH** around! Yay! I was super excited for her. :)Her character starts to experience loss and begins to grow from it. Every decision she makes is driven by her heart and her mind. She knows this and its difficult but its her driving force. Savannah’s love for Tristan means more to her that any selfish want or need.

My Fav Quote
“Sometimes love doesn’t conquer all. Sometimes we just have to let go. The Clann and the Council, they just want to keep us safe from each other. Listen to them. Help me keep my promise to them let this go.”

ReplyDeleteSounds like Savannah grows up a lot in this sequel! I shall have to keep my eyes open for these novels. And I shall remember to preserve with the series if the first book seems disappointing in any way. Lovely review. :-)
