5 Reasons to be an Author
1. You get to make stuff up ALL THE TIME
You get to take whatever crazy stuff your imagination comes up with and put it onto a page and call it "work". Your "job". It's fantastic! (You're also allowed to Tweet, Facebook, and blog and call it "work" ;-) )
2. You can do it anywhere
At home. Outside. In a coffee shop. In the lounge at your gym. Which means you don't have to work at the same place every day. You can choose!
3. You can wear anything
If you're the kind of person who has to shower, get dressed and brush your hair before you even feel alive in the morning, then this one won't really affect you. But for everyone else, you can go to work in your pajamas if you want to!
4. You can touch other people's lives
You can make people feel. You can make them think about things they may never have thought about otherwise. You can get them to start conversations they may never have had otherwise. You can make them laugh, cry, hope and dream. It's actually quite a responsibility. Use your "power" wisely!
5. The incredible sense of accomplishment
Come on. You WROTE A WHOLE BOOK! That is an AMAZING thing to have accomplished. And when you get to see the finished product in a bookstore/virtual shelf, the feeling is ... wow. Just wow.

Rachel Morgan was born in South Africa and spent a large portion of her childhood living in a fantasy land of her own making. After completing a degree in genetics, she decided science wasn’t for her—after all, they didn’t approve of made-up facts. These days she spends much of her time immersed in fantasy land once more, writing fiction for young adults.
