GoodReads Summary

Can a guilty conscience keep wounds from healing?

Fine arts major, Candace Parker, grew up with a mother who thinks image is everything, and her daughter’s perfection will never be good enough. About to graduate college and pursue her dreams of becoming a professional ballerina, Candace decides it’s time to let go and have a little fun. But fun is short-lived when a brutal attack leaves her completely shattered.

The memories that consume and torment Candace are starting to destroy her when she meets Ryan Campbell, a successful bar owner. He feels instantly connected and tries to show her that hope is worth fighting for. But is Ryan harboring his own demons? As walls slowly begin to chip away, the secrets that are held within start to become painful burdens.
At what point do secrets become lies?

The Way I See It

Hey y’all! I loved, loved, loved, Fading.  It pulled so many emotions from me.  I felt everything that the characters felt. Ms. Blair pulls you into the turmoil, and walks you through the healing process. This book deals with a very dark subject that affects my heart, and I cry for those that have had to suffer through that pain.  One of the main reasons I fell in Love right away was nothing felt out of place. The events, and everybody’s reactions all felt real. I have been Jase in this situation...I felt so many emotions, the helplessness, the anger, and the pain for your friend. Sometimes it felt so heavy it, actually weighs down your soul. I am so happy I read this. It was a beautiful story of healing, love, life, and friendships. Candace was amazing, and that tiny princess will always have a piece of my heart.

F-riend, torn to pieces and alone, Jase rushes to Candace’s side and never leaves her. He will be the strong foundation that will keep her upright, when all she wants to do is fade.
A-gony, in every day, in every breath, Candace can’t see her future because her past is destroying her present. A shell of the person she was, Candace will push those around her away.
D-isillusion, to her parents and her parents to her. Can something that was never there be repaired? Is it worth the effort? Though it pains her, Candace realizes there isn’t anything she can do or say to change what her family is.
I-gnited, a friendship turned to love. Candace reluctantly gives little pieces of her heart away. Ryan has demons of his own. Together Candace and Ryan’s love will guide their paths to a place of healing.
N-aive, so many foolish decisions. So much embarrassment. Candace will run. Pushed to her breaking point accepting the pain...There is only one way to truly heal and running is not the key.
G-iving in, to her life, realizing her actual dreams, Candace returns to the only place she wants to be. Accepting a new life, a life where she is happy and safe.

I felt all of the pain that crushes everyones life. I wanted so much for Candace, it was a true joy seeing her heal and accomplish her dreams. I wanted to shake her parents. It broke my heart for the way they treated her. I loved all of the friendships and relationships. Ryan and his mom, Mark and Jase, Kimber and Candace, even Rox and Jared. I highly recommend this book, even though it deals with a difficult and dark subject, the healing and love is a joy to see.

My Fav’s

Candace
She is so committed and dedicated to her dreams, but also fights against her nightmares and despair to accomplish what she has been working for her entire life. She is so sweet and so guarded. All she wants is to love, be loved and feel safe. I immediately connected with her. So many things that she had to deal with broke my heart, but as her heart began to heal and fill in, so did mine. I loved how she was.  I’m a huge fan of classical ballet so reading the moves and picturing her executing them was a real treat!

Ryan
I don’t even know where to begin. I know Candace needed him, but I feel like he needed her just as much. As gorgeous as Ryan was (cause we know he is) Ms. Blair focused more on him and his actions. The way that he treated Candace was truly awe-inspiring. He isn’t perfect, but I feel that flaw is what makes him a diamond. Not pushy or overly loving, Ryan is exactly the thing Candace needed, and Candace was exactly what Ryan needed. She opened his heart and they created a loving tenderness that doesn’t come along very often.

Jase
Oh my GOSH!! He was perfect.  He loved Candace like a brother would love his sister. He was there for her whenever she needed him, for that he will always have me on his side.

Donna
(Ryan's Mom) She is such an amazing loving woman. Her love jumps off the pages. She takes Candace into her heart and keeps her there, giving her the maternal love she never knew existed.

My Rating

4.75 Frat A$$hat, Common Grounds, Heart Tattoo, Mountain Hike, Thursday Runs, Christmas Visit, Non Birthday Cake, Full Bar, Sudden Accident, Nailed Performance, ABT, Hailed Cab, Rushed Embrace Filled Stars!!! For a stunning, loving, story about pain and the healing that comes after I HIGLY HIGLY recommend this book!
