My Journey:


Agent Colt Shore: Domino 29, by Axel Avian, is a well rounded, fully sculpted novel.  I enjoyed the storyline immensely.  Colt Shore starts in the present tense, and he looks back on how this whole domino effect started.  Colt's parents are elderly, and he feels he has lived in the shadow of his older brother, Dix, his whole life.  His parents have a shrine dedicated to their son, who died at the age of 22, before Colt was ever born.  Colt feels that his brother was perfect, and "frozen in time."  He thinks that he can never live up to his flawless brother that has left behind a legacy of such perfection.  Colt's insecurities are always in the forefront.  He compares every step of his adventure to the Domino Effect, and it takes 29 domino's to get to his final fall.  

Colt overhears a conversation that turns his world upside down.  He realizes that his whole life is a lie.  The knowledge is brought to the forefront.  All the secrets are revealed to him, and he is in a tailspin. Colt attends the F.A.L.C.O.N. Academy, that is disguised and serves as a high school.  Colt lives in Springfield, Missouri.  He is part of the think-tank, filled with trainee's that are active, and non-active secret agents, to eliminate global international affairs in crime.  Colt specializes in Mediterranean affairs, and he is an outstanding drummer, which is soon discovered.  

Colt Shore is immediately sent through all kinds of secret floors, and hidden panels, which use finger identification to take him to the heirarchy.  These are places of high clearance.  There he meets someone who is part of the secret from his past, and this knowledge is the beginning of his journey as an undercover agent on a mission, covering as a drummer in his favorite rock band at a USO Tour in Afgahanistan, protecting Jayla, and Thorn, (children of a famous missing journalist, Sophie Ellis, who he must find,) and keep them from being kidnapped like their mother.

Throughout this book, Colt has many chances to prove he is worthy of his lineage, though he  always feels insecure.  Colt gets promoted quickly, and must problem solve, which is what he has been trained to do. He must stop the human-trafficking ring that has the young girls held hostage, against their will, while the traffickers pretend they are part of a choir group. This novel is a thrill ride of a lifetime!!!  I felt like I did when I started reading Harry Potter, and watching inspector gadget.  It was full of excitement and adventure.  The places and the people were all part of the wonderful imagination of Mr. Avian.  

At times, I felt like I was reading a historical adventure.  There are so many destinations, that are well described, and realistic.  Agent Colt Shore is full of ups and downs, twists and turns, non-stop, action packed, death defying, fast moving adventures, and a thrill a minute!  This novel is a page turner, that I couldn't put down.  It was exhilerating!  It was funny, intriging, holding on to your seat scary, and the reader will find themselves letting out a breath when he gets through yet another obstacle.  

Colt Shore is a good guy, who always wants to do the right thing, even when he realizes it would be easier not to.  He is a wonderful role model for kids, and the book has many great life lessons.  I've always loved James Bond, and now I have Colt Shore!  I can't wait for the sequel to this series.
