Gr’s Summary
Life is sweet for Katherine Langley. A freshman at the University of Virginia, she is free from the drama of her parents’ dysfunctional marriage and ready to focus on studying to become a nurse. Her brother, Ben, belongs to the hottest fraternity on campus, and her new roommate, Emma, is beautiful and charming, a party girl whose answer for a hangover is happy hour. She is also a psychopath.
When Katherine’s obsessive-compulsive overprotective brother succumbs to Emma’s charms and falls dangerously off-track, Katherine must save Ben from himself. Lives are threatened and someone disappears on New Year’s Day. The only evidence left: a single set of footprints in the snow.
From the university campus to a cozy cottage on Carter’s Creek, Virginia, Saving Ben is a haunting tale of love and loyalty, anger management, substance abuse, and betrayal.
The Way I See It
One of the many reasons I love to read is, being able to immerse myself in the story. I loved this book. Not only could I not stop turning the pages, but I felt like I was next to the characters, feeling what they felt. This book literally plays out like a movie...Fingers crossed I’d love to see the catfight on the silver screen. ;)
S- abotage, It seems like cuckoo cachoo Emma will stop at nothing to hurt Ben and Katherine’s bond.
A- nger, doesn’t begin to cover my emotions towards Emma, deserves the worst because she is the worst!
V- iolence, is a drug that, unfortunately, afflicts everyone in this story.
I- ndependent and strong, two of Katherine’s best qualities.
N- erve-wrecking, throughout the entire book, I was on edge waiting for the answers.
G- uilt, for the things that could not be changed no matter how many times Kat revisited the situation.
"B- eauty is as beauty does," is one of my favorite lines in Saving Ben.
E- nvy, should have been Emma’s middle name!
N- eglect, finally recognized and repaired to mend a broken family.
I like to keep my reviews 100% spoiler free but I will say this, Emma gets her just desserts! I was saddened by all of the hurt and pain she spread. I’m very happy to say that in the end everything is as it should be. For a highly addictive entertaining read, I highly recommend this book! It has elements of fun, drama, love, betrayal, compromise, forgiveness, and most of all a huge element of the deep bonds of friendship. I devoured this book and had a great time doing it!
My Fav’s
Katherine
Kitty, okay not only is this name super cute, this is one amazing lady!! Not only is she dependable, she is honest, and strong, and all of the things Emma is not. Kat leads with her heart. She is kind and loving, even when the recipients are undeserving.
Ben
I love Ben because he has flaws. Sadly, his biggest flaw was giving his heart to the wrong person. Ben is used, and toyed with throughout the book. It broke my heart to see his pain. I fell in love with his joyful personality, and the way he was able to overcome adversity.
My Rating
4.0 Honey, Chi Delta, Prison, Missing person, Tormented Soul, Family Despair, Mended relationship, Unyielding Love filled Stars! This is a great read if you want to get lost in intrigue, and drama. Go pick it up and let your emotions flare.

About the Author
I wrote a novel, SAVING BEN, in honor of my brother, the boy I worshipped, the man I could not save. It’s not a memoir, but a story about the special bond between siblings.
I'm a wife and mother of two teenagers. I have lived in Richmond, Virginia, for seventeen years, a city I love for its history and traditions. Personal experience with my brother inspired me to become involved with the leadership symposium in my son’s school where I’ve helped bring in speakers to raise parents’ awareness of the alcohol and drug problems children face. When I’m not steering volunteer committees or working on my next novel, I can be found swimming laps or playing tennis.
