Goodreads Summary:
To want what you’re not supposed to have…
She is only nineteen.
She is his new stepfather’s daughter.
She is still naïve and innocent due to spending the last three years taking care of her sick mother.
But for twenty-four year old Rush Finlay, she is the only thing that has ever been off limits. His famous father’s guilt money, his mother’s desperation to win his love, and his charm are the three reasons he has never been told no.
Blaire Wynn left her small farmhouse in Alabama, after her mother passed away, to move in with her father and his new wife in their sprawling beach house along the Florida gulf coast. She isn’t prepared for the lifestyle change and she knows she’ll never fit into this world. Then there is her sexy stepbrother who her father leaves her with for the summer while he runs off to Paris with his wife. Rush is as spoiled as he is gorgeous. He is also getting under her skin. She knows he is anything but good for her and that he’ll never be faithful to anyone. He is jaded and has secrets Blaire knows she may never uncover but even knowing all of that…
Blaire just may have fallen too far.
My Thoughts:
This was my first Abbi Glines book, and I want more. I sympathized with Blaire's character, a 19 year old just trying to survive from day to day. With her last tank of gas and $20 dollars to her name, she doesn't know what she is going to find, when she goes in search of her father-her last resort and last choice for help to get back on her feet after her mother's passing. After all, the last time she saw him was 5 years ago, after her identical twin sister was killed in a car accident while her father was driving.
What she ends up finding is a gorgeous, sexy, she can't keep her eyes off of him, stepbrother. Rush Finlay is sexy and he knows it! Women just throw themselves at him, even when they know that they are going to be tossed out like garbage, and replaced instantly. I had a strong dislike for Rush at the beginning of the story. I was angry about the way he treated Blaire. She was dependent on him for a place to stay or she would be homeless, and he treated her like an unwanted burden. He appeared to be a selfish, rich, spoiled jerk, and I couldn't see what the appeal was for Blaire. She had men constantly throwing themselves at her and I thought that she could have done better, until I got to see a softer, more compassionate, and caring side to Rush.
Fallen Too Far was an extremely emotionally read for me. I was so deep into the story, that I would catch tears falling from my eyes as I read on. I made such a deep connection to the characters, especially Blaire. The sex scenes were explicit, passionate, and intense. Wow, this author has a real talent for writing love scenes! It takes an extremely talented author to write the way that Abbi Glines does. This story had many factors that contributed to its success. There was love, passion, mystery, a plot twist that I didn't see coming, and superb writing. I had an intense hunger to devour this book and was sad I finished it so quickly. On the bright side, the sequel, Never Too Far comes out in March of 2013!
I read this story in a few hours and it was 698 pages! That is how addictive of a read Fallen Too Far was for me. I kept telling myself, "Ok, just one more chapter, and then I'm going to bed." Needless to say, that didn't happen! I finished the book in a record amount of time. Okay, I'm going to attempt to stop gushing now. If you love the New Adult genre, go out and buy this book. If you want a book filled with sexually tension, and a steamy read, that has you feeling like you've come down with a scorching fever, buy this book. If you want a character driven story with substance, mystery, plot twists and excellent writing, buy this story! I give Fallen Too Far 5 Smokin' Hot Tropical Flowers!
